Louth / Re: Drogheda workhouse
« on: Monday 09 November 15 22:27 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you for your replies.
I am looking for William Farrell who was born in approx 1846, so would have been about 65 in 1911. I have been unable to find him on the 1911 census.
I have no proof he was in the workhouse in 1911. I have however found a death certificate for someone of that name in the workhouse in 1921, district of St Peter's 3. I cannot be sure the death certificate is the right one because the informant is not a family member.
I was hoping that I could solve both mysteries by tying the two together.

Hello,
Please would someone be kind enough to help me find the names of people in the Drogheda workhouse on the 1911 census. I would like to browse the names, but am not sure of the path.
Thank you

Louth / Re: Louth petty sessions court registers

Thank you very much for your reply. I have an ancestor with a fairly common name, and there seems to be a lot of court records for that name. I am sure the address will help me to determine whether any(or maybe all) of the records relate to him. Thanks again.

Louth / Louth petty sessions court registers

Hello,
I have noticed that family search now hold court records for Louth, with links to a commercial site. I wondered whether anyone can tell me what each record, on that second site, contains? I particularly want to know how the defendants are identified, date of birth, address etc. I also noticed that there are several courts in Louth, so I would be grateful for any information on that. Thank you.

Ireland / Re: Reardon's - Mystery man!

I have looked on roots Ireland for Patrick Reardon born between 1832 and 1836 in cork. There are 28, using various spellings. There are 6 with a father of the same name, so you could try these. However I think you would need a place name to narrow it down, how would you know which was the one you wanted.

Ireland / Full age 21 at marriage
« on: Sunday 25 January 15 13:19 GMT (UK)  »
I have noticed that some marriage records on roots Ireland say the the bride and or groom are full age 21. Please can someone tell me what the regulations were in Ireland about age at marriage. What was the minimum age that marriage was permitted?

I think I may have answered my own question about a graveyard at Sandpit. There doesn't seem to be one there on google earth.
