I'm new to this site.  I married a girl from Callan, Co.  Kilkenny who knows of 2 Heron ladies who lived in Callan  -  both probably deceased.  One was Charlotte and the other was called Gunnie /  Gunny.  The latter was a nurse.  Charlotte may have married a French man. 
Info is scant but it may give you a starting point.

You're so right.  Would I have been thinking of Kearney's butcher shop in Bridge St opposite what was P & H Egan,  now,  The Bridge House.  ?    Clavins was close to Cloonans ok.  The main thing is that it confirms the information for the enquirer.

Clavins of High St.,  Tullamore were butchers when I was growing up in the 60s

Another spelling of the name is GEOGHEGAN, pronounced as GAIGEN
