I agree that other family members place of birth should read Donegal.  Fermanagh and Donegal border each other.

Regarding variations in Ann's maiden name spelling and her possible Irish background,  it might be worth while considering yet another variation - Heffernan,  as this is more common in Ireland.

Could I suggest that Donat  should  probably be read as Donal ( Irish translation of Daniel )  and perhaps  '' Dunny '' should be  '' Dinny '',  a common Irish way of referring to people called Denis.
