Sussex / William Lemon in Tangmere
« on: Monday 30 July 12 19:45 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I am looking for a possible baptism of William Lemon. From his service records as a Royal Marine, I have gathered that he was born on the 3rd of August 1821 at Tangmere, Sussex.
I have no idea as to his parents names or any siblings, but hopefully someone may be able to help or at least point me in the right direction.
Many thanks in advance, Joshua.

World War One / Edwin James Evans, where do I go from here?
« on: Friday 09 March 12 13:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone, I have just found out through a marriage certificate in 1917 that my great x2 grandfather had listed his occupation as a soldier. I am at a complete loss as to where to start and what records would be available of his time in the war. I was hoping someone could help me.

His name is Edwin James Evans born 10 Mar 1889 in Blaengwynfi, Glamorgan. Father was James Evan and his wife from 1917 was Cornelia Mary Andrew. Hopefully someone will be able to help me.
Thanks, Joshua.

Glamorganshire / Evan Watkin & Cecil Help
« on: Sunday 29 January 12 15:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there. I have come across a baptism transcript on free reg belonging to my gx4 grandfather Evan Watkin. It states he was baptised on the 9th of June 1816 at St Crallo, Coychurch.

Parents are stated as Evan Watkin (carpenter) and Cecil, and are living at Pencoed.

Cecil went on to marry Lewis Morgan in 1826 in Llanharan and to John Griffiths in 1844 in Peterston. From these I have gathered that Cecil or Cecilia was a Davies before her marriage and her father was Jenkin Davies, and she was born about 1791 at Coychurch.

I have not been able to find any marriage between Evan Watkin and Cecil Davies, or any mention of their baptism/christening. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Joshua.

Worcestershire / James Lloyd Worcester/Kidderminster
« on: Tuesday 10 January 12 22:44 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I am trying to find out any information regarding James Lloyd who was born about 1808 in Worcester, Worcestershire. I have traced him living in Kidderminster in the 1841, 1851 and 1861 census living with his first wife Eleanor born about 1798 in Ireland and in the 1871 census living with his second wife Margaret. So far, I have only been able to find one child, Ellen Lloyd born around 1835 in Kidderminster.

Any information would be greatly appreciated, a marriage? baptism? his parents?

Regards, Joshua.

Glamorganshire / John Percival Jenkins Merthyr Tydfil & Duffryn Rhondda
« on: Sunday 08 January 12 13:56 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find out when my great grandfather moved from Merthyr Tydfil to Duffryn Rhondda. In the 1911 census, he's living with his wife Martha at 36 Nantygwenith st, Merthyr. Their 4 children Doris, Ainslie, Margorie and Joan are all born in Merthyr between 1912 and 1920. In 1928 Ainslie died and this was still in Merthyr. By 1936, Doris was married in Bridgend district, I am not too sure why they were married here.

Is there anyway to find out when they made the move? Would the best option be to search the electoral registers? Where are the registers kept?

Regards, Joshua.

Glamorganshire Completed Lookups / Abergwynfi Suicide
« on: Wednesday 26 October 11 18:19 BST (UK)  »
My great x2 grandfather was David Thomas born about 1872 in Llanelly, from 1901 onwards he lived in Abergwynfi, Glam. His last child was born in 1918, and I know he committed suicide, but im not sure when, it could be from this time onwards into the 1920s and possibly the 1930s. So would anyone know if this kind of event would be in a newspaper, and if so, which newspaper would have covered the area during this time, and where would these papers be kept?

Regards, Josh.
