Staffordshire / Lawrence Southwich
« on: Saturday 30 January 21 21:31 GMT (UK)  »
I have a Lawrence Southwich born 1596 Tettenhall, Staffordshire he marries a Cassandra Burnell on the 25/01/1623 in Kingswinford she was born 1598 in Worcestershire so far so good, trying to find where they went and keep coming back to a Lawrence and Cassandra who arrive in Salem New England, it is suggested that they come from Lancashire and set up a Pottery and Glassware factory before falling foul of the local authorities, they are arrested as Quakers, whipped sold as slaves etc-- and end up on Shelter Island New York where they both die from exposure... not convinced these are the people I am looking for, any thoughts out there ??

Durham / Barnabus Davy Beeson
« on: Saturday 30 January 21 15:10 GMT (UK)  »
I am attempting to find how and when Barnabus Davy Beeson died, he was born in Kings Lynn 1848, he married a Mary Ainslie 23/11/1872 in Monkwearmouth, Sunderland, County Durham, had several children, according to Kelly's Directory he was living a 6 Park Lea Rd, Sunderland and was a Chief Engineer in the Merchant Navy, the 1901 census shows his wife and family with Barnabus missing possibly at sea, he wife Mary is still marked as married so presumably he died some time after 1901/1902 I have seen suggestions that he died at sea in the Indian Ocean and was buried at sea but cannot find any confirmation of this, given a first name of 'Barnabus' he may have gone by the name Davy Beeson but again I can find no confirmation record, presumably if he died at sea a death record would have to be lodged but would this be at the next port of Call or the home port... help am sinking fast

Durham / Samuel Buck Chief Mate
« on: Wednesday 14 August 19 17:01 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to identify the Sailing Ship that Samuel Buck was First Mate on, on the evening of April 3rd 1881 the national census was taken at the time he was at sea, the master of the vessel was Thomas Stewart, for the life on me I cannot translate the name shown on a copy of the ships census, Samuel was born in Dovercourt Kent on the 25th November 1833 and died 1915 in Sunderland, County Durham, he married Adeline Mounser 20/08/1853 in Seaham, County Durham.

Any pointers appreciated..
