« on: Tuesday 03 February 15 01:22 GMT (UK)  »
My old mum bless her soul was a Radford, I have spent many hours trying to find out about her parents, I know her dad was James Radford, and her mother was Mary Moore, I have a copy of her birth cert, but try as I might I cannot find James, I know he served in WW1, he was in the Munster regiment,

Try Wexford

Best wishes
Pete

This is a true story,

I was in my local archive office searching for my G.G.G grandad, I had been there for about four hours and was just about to give up the ghost and give up, when suddenly out of the blue,  my sock fell down,  I was shoked, :o   I have been in that archives many times and I have done a lot of lookups for various people but in all that time I was doing that my socks stayed up,  I feel that my G.G.G. grandad was looking after me,

Pete, :)

This is really true, and its spooky even for me

I was really in the archives here in Shrewsbury looking for my Thomas, 1828    I tried every micro thingy they had in the draws with no luck, I was lookiing for his marriage, I was getting peed of and thought thats it,  after many hours of going through the fiches I thought I would like to see the original entry,  now to get in to that room you have to be a member, to get membership I had to have,  I.D. card,  photo, three bills,  no probs,

I went into the said room, put on the white gloves, and requested the said book, a couple of minuits later a Lady came with a big book, it was as thick as me, the lady placed it on the table in front of  me and left, I swear to God on my life that this is the truth, great big thick book, I thought this will pass some time, I opened the book at random, there he was out of all the pages I could of choose there he was, God bless you Thomas,

I am a nut and im proud :)

Shropshire / Re: George Edwards,
« on: Sunday 12 October 14 20:30 BST (UK)  »

Again thanks all for the time :)

Thanks Alberbury, this is my 3x grandad,

1829, Jan: 31 bap: Thomas, fil: Georgii et Sarae Edwards.
Pat: G. Partridge et Elizabetha Williams

He married Ellen Littlehales,  they went on to have a son called James who married Elaner Rudge, who in turn had a son called Charles he married Julia Maguire, they produced my late dad,

I think this is one of mine, but can any  good soul translate this entry ( wich I have nicked from Alberburby  :o )

" Die 21 nat: et 22 bap: Emma, fil: Georgii et Sarae Edwards.
Pat: W. Rogers et Maria Rowe.

George Edwards married Sarah Rowe, I have this couple on every census till the year they dont turn up,  Sarah is easy, Its Goerge Im stuck on,  I have spent many hours down at our local archives looking for him, I have looked at every nearby parish for a birth of George that might fit the said person with no luck, except for one,

Uffington parish registers,

24  Jan  1786   George  son of  James and Jane Edwards  baptised,

Pete :) :)

Thanks for the time all,   :)   I found this marriage by visiting Shropshire archives,  I.G.I.,  I am looking at a copy of the cert from the original,

the marriage was by banns.

they both give there parish as Cound, try as I might I cannot find a George Edwards born in Cound, spent many hours in the archives ( only 15 mins walk ) trying,  witnesses,

In the presence of   Paul          Edwards
                             Margret    Evans

yes I think that Margret was the first born,

Cound parish registers ( I have seen the orignals )

5      Jan     1808     Margret  d of  Geo and Sarah  Edwards
25   Feb      1816     Margret Edwards of Coundmoor  aged 7  buried

28  Feb    1859     George  Edwards of Coundmoor   aged 71  buried
9    sept   1868     Sarah   Edwards  of Coundmoor  aged  84 buried

I am prety certain that they may have been closet Catholics as there offspring were baptised at the nearby Acton burnell R/C church,

Again thanks for all your time :) :)

Pete

Shropshire / George Edwards,
« on: Friday 10 October 14 14:11 BST (UK)  »

Hi all  :)

not often I ask for a request, but can anybody on here confirm what I  suspect,

George Edwards married Sarah Rowe, 12 March 1808  Cound ( Shropshire ),  I have them on all census from 1841 onwards, this I know as fact,

I think George was born in Uffington,  son of James and Jane ,

Methinks there is a link with Ryton 11 towns,

Many thanks in advance for your time,

Pete,

Hi Jool :)

I have just this couple of hours ago posted the album to a fellow member who I will not name unless I have his permission,

As of the link that you kindly posted, a couple of the pics were taken by A & G Taylor, From what I can make out of the details of the cards I would put the pics as 1882/1902, on the back of the pic there is the crown and plume of feathers, they are together side by side, not in each courner,

Also for dating, there is no mention of Paris. New York is on there,

Many thanks

Pete :)
