Cavan / Keappock family Knockbride marriage look up
« on: Saturday 18 April 20 23:48 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help please. After spending a few years unravelling my maternal great grandmother's parentage and where they came from, I was wondering if someone could help please. My grt grt grandmother was called Mary Keappock and she was the daughter of  John and Anne.  I found her baptism date 2 Sept 1840, Knockbride. With her having an uncommon surname, I thought finding her marriage would be easy but this hasn't been the case. Mary married John Duffy before 1861 presumably as their first child, Thomas was born in 1861, he was born in Liverpool as were the rest of their children. I have looked to see if they married outside of Ireland but haven't found any evidence. They must have married before they left Ireland. Any help would be appreciated, also if anyone else has any other knowledge about the Keappock family line please.  :)

What religion were they? Civil registration of non-Catholic marriages started 1845 but from 1864 for Catholic marriages. If they were Catholic and married in Ireland before 1864 there will not be a civil record of the event and you'd need to see if a church record survives.
Good evening, they were Catholic, where would I search for church records please.

Thanks

Have already posted a link to Knockbride church registers!
I'm struggling to read these registers, is there no way to find entries via surnames?

Have you got the birth Certs of the children born in Ireland?
Their births would narrow down the date of the marriage.

Good evening, the first two children that appear on the 1871 census of Liverpool, England state that they were born in Ireland, the rest of the children were born in Liverpool. First two children were born before 1863.
Thanks.

Cavan / Keappock-Looking for information
« on: Friday 09 November 18 01:08 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone please help regarding my 2x great grandmother's maiden name, Keappock also recorded as Capogue/Kappick/Cappock/Kappock/Kappick. Mary Keappock was born circa 1840, I've found a baptism  listed at Knockbride, County Cavan. Parents John Keappock and Ann McHenry. Mary married John Duffy, marriage must have took place in Cavan as their first 2 children were born in Ireland before they moved to Liverpool just before 1871 census. Any information relating to the family/marriage would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Mother of Henry is transcribed as Anne on Lancashire OPC.
An older Henry, son of Henry & Agnes was baptised at St. Leonard, Salmesbury 1817.
Baptism of Sarah, daughter of Henry & Anne at St. James, Brindle, 1825. Abode Wheelton. Henry's occupation was cotton spinner.
Were Anne and Agnes same woman?
Yes,I think as with other ancestral records, people's names were written incorrectly.

Could this be George Whittam the witness to Henry and Agnes' marriage possibly Agnes' Father? It's from Lancashire online parish clerks site

5 Oct 1816 St Leonard the Less, Samlesbury, Lancashire, England

George Whittam - (X), Mechanic, Widower, Preston
Ellen Nightingale - (X), Widow, This Parish
Witness: Thomas Whittom; John Valentine
Married by Banns by: James Barnes
I'm wondering if George Is Agnes's brother?
