I traced the 1891 Yorkshire census for  Doncaster Infirmary , but can't read the street name. Help!
Also need to see the 1881 census to find if nurses Simpson and Wheeler were there.

Europe / Holland .... Dutch translation.. Part 2 !!
« on: Sunday 23 October 11 14:16 BST (UK)  »
My ancestor had a son in 1843 with "en van de Chinese vrouw Ong Tok. (erkenning). "
This was in Java, Indonesia.
Were they married?    Was she a "recognised" common law wife?

THANKS for recent replies.  I do know what the translation is, ie his Chinese woman, or wife, and  that erekenning reads as "recognised", but I wanted the interpretation as to this entry in Java births, ie I suspect they were not married and she was in modern parlance his partner. Just wondered if any Dutch person could confirm this

Other Countries / Holland Shipwreck
« on: Saturday 24 September 11 12:31 BST (UK)  »
The "Hendrika" frigate was wrecked near Zeeland on 4 Dec 1854 and all perished. The body of the Captain Pieter Admiraal was recovered and he is buried at the cemetery at Hiiegonda Kerk, Hillegersberg.

My relative Anna Margaretha Olive (nee La Feber) died aged 28 and her daughter Emma Jane Olive aged 6, plus another young one.  Are there any other graves from this tragedy, or a mass grave?

A report of the wreck appeared in the Nieuwe Rotterdamsch Courant" .. was there a list of passengers or Death Notices??  They were on their way back to their home in Java, Dutch East Indies.

Many thanks !!
