Can anyone help find Agnes Jane Dyson on the 1911 census please? She was was born in Tinsley near Sheffield in 1837 and died in Worksop 1921. She never married and at the time of her death lived at 29 Blythe road Worksop. I can find her on the census up until 1911.
Thanks Lizzy.

Northamptonshire / Hannah Hall.
« on: Saturday 26 October 13 18:43 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help me with this? My great great grandmother Hannah Hall lived in Weedon Bec and in 1865 she married Thomas Butler, who was a soldier in the 83rd regiment of foot ( I believe he could have been Irish) she had two children. On the 1871 census she is living with her parents and I can find no sign of Thomas Butler. In 1872 she marries again, using her maiden name and stating she is a spinster. This time she marries at the parish church, her first marriage was at the register office. This time she marries Edward Birch, also a soldier. Any ideas anyone?

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Mary Hand
« on: Monday 14 October 13 09:26 BST (UK)  »
I wondered if anyone could help? Two ancestors of mine called John Bisby and Mary Hand, they were born around the 1690's. I have a marriage for them at Bolton on Dearne Yorkshire, in 1725. Also what I believe are their burial records at Barnbrough. Mary in 1782 and John 1780. I can find no baptism records for either. There are loads of Bisby's at Mexbrough, but no John at that time.
I have based their ages on the burial records and if correct Mary would have been about 31 when she married, so possibly Hand is not her name, if she married before John.
Hand is a strange name and I have looked at other records and found none.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks Lizzy.

Derbyshire / Fred Bowden
« on: Friday 21 June 13 10:00 BST (UK)  »
Hi, can anyone help me with this please, I am looking for Fred Bowden born 1856 New Mills Derbyshire? I think I have the right person on the 1861 and 1871 census and he marries Betsy Ann Dawson 1878 in Sheffield. After this marriage he appears to disappear. Betsy Ann has three children one in 1880 1883 and 1891. Fred worked for the railway, but it looks like he lost his job before he married, although it says signalman on his marriage certificate.
Thanks Lizzy Drippin.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Robert Day
« on: Sunday 05 May 13 08:30 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for the birth of Robert Day, he was born about 1770 and died in 1838. I have what I think is his marriage to Mary Lockwood at Barnsley, 1793,  but I'm not certain and they both died before the 1851 census, so no help there. They lived in Bolton on Dearne and Robert was a blacksmith.
Any ideas much appreciated. Lizzy Drippin.

Warwickshire / John Flanaghan
« on: Wednesday 01 May 13 08:36 BST (UK)  »
I wondered if anyone could help with an Irish ancestor? I have very little information, because he states on all censuses that he was born at sea, he appears to have lived in Bedworth Warwickshire for most of his life and worked has a coal miner. I know nothing about this area or how he got there or if there were other Irish immigrants living there. His name was John Flanaghan (various spellings) born around 1805.
Thanks Lizzy Drippin.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / WW2 Prisoner's of War.
« on: Saturday 27 April 13 09:12 BST (UK)  »
I wondered if anyone could help me, I'm looking for help finding information about my father, who was a prisoner of war, in the second world war. His name was John William Lakin and he was in the King's Own Royal Regiment. I know from family history sites that he was a prisoner in Austria, but I don't know where he was captured or where his regiment was at that time and what they were doing.
Any help appreciated.
