Could this be Jonathan?

3rd January 1888, Stafford General Quarter Session

Jonathan Stone, Breaking into Country House, once before convicted
Sentenced 15 months imprisonment

7th April 1885, Stafford Quarter Sessioms

Jonathan Stone, Warehousebreaking
Not guilty

And that 1881 census:
Reference RG11, 3011, 131, 23
H.M. Prison, Winson Green, Birmingham

Stone, Jonathan  Inmate  Married  M  35  Marine Store Dealer  b Derby  Blind

I don't think either of them are him as he was in prison before both of them took place. Thanks anyway.

Thank you that was brilliant. She is my great-great grandmother and I am looking into her life. As far as I am aware her husband Jonathan my great grandfather was in prison in 1881 in Winson Green in Birmingham and then must have died sometime between 1881 and 1891 as she is a widow in 1891. She sounds like a remarkable woman.

Hi my great-great grandmother was called Rosehannah Stone. She was born around 1847 in Tipton and I know that in 1871 she was married to a Jonathan Stone and had two sons John and James and lived on Canal Side Lane in Tipton. My great-grandfather name was Alfred and would have been born much later than that. Any ideas or help?

Somerset Lookup Requests / Re: Lookup for GEORGE LANGFORD NORTH PETHERTON
« on: Friday 07 October 11 00:11 BST (UK)  »
There is a baptism for George Langford on Freereg as follows:

North Petherton, St Mary, 22 December 1816. George, son of Robert and Sarah Langford. Father's occupation: Boatman.

There were siblings baptised there:

12 September 1819, William, son of Robert and Sarah Langford, Boatman. Abode: North Petherton.

23 December 1821, Charles, son of Robert and Sarah Langford. Boatman.

6 June 1824, Samuel, son of Robert and Sarah Langford. Boatman. Abode: North Petherton.

25 January 1835, Robert, son of Robert and Mary Langford, Boatman. Abode: North Petherton.

11 June 1837, James, son of Robert and Mary Langford, Boatman. North Petherton.

It looks as if Robert remarried if it is the same Robert. I cannot find a marriage for Robert Langford around the 1810s, or the 1830s.

There were other couples by the name of Langford baptising children there at that time too.

These are transcriptions from the parish registers.

Thanks Jo.

There is plenty for me to pontifcate on here.

this might throw a spanner in the works though
this is the only marriage i can find of a john barrington and charlotte
john barrington/charlotte bishop were married in north petherton on the 18th july 1832
ext.rec. I.G.I.

That might throw a spanner in the works wozzle but I think that we are on the right track with Charlotte Bartlett anyway.

could charlotte have been married before she married george langford
only there is this
1841
HO107/953/7/7/7
john barrington age 50. occ. army pensioner
charlotte barrington age 30
charlotte barrington age 7
living at;north petherton,somerset
all born in county

then in 1851 the daughter charlotte aged 7 in 1841
1851
HO107/1924/259/7
james bartlett age 72. b. north petherton. occ. chelsea pensioner. head
mary bartlett age 67. b. ditto. wife
charlotte barrington age 16. b. ditto. grand daughter
living at; north petherton,somerset
reg.dist; bridgwater
if this is the daughter then george langfords wife's maiden name was charlotte bartlett
you would obviously need george/charlottes marriage cert to verify if this is correct

This does sound possible as on the 1841 census George was not married but he was married to a Charlotte by the 1851 and then in 1871 they are living with  Mary Bartlett so this is sounding spot on from where I am standing.

A second marriage is possible as they were a lot older when they got married than is often the case for those years. I would say that it is definite possibility but certs would tell us if this was correct or not.

possibly his marriage
name; george langford
y.o.r. 1847
qtr; oct/nov/dec
dist; bridgwater
vol;10
page; 545
spouse; charlotte barrington

This is sounding likely as well.

Hi,

IGI has this extracted baptism

George Langford bp. 22 December 1816 North Petherton. Parents Robert Langford and Sarah

More info on Freereg site says Robert Langford was a Boatman, and the baptism took place at St. Marys Church, North Petherton.

Hi Claire

This does sound like it could be right.

Thanks
