Just to add - Hoyland was in the parish of Wath upon Dearne until 1855, so if your relative was buried in Wentworth they may have perhaps come from there or at least have some kind of special relationship - it might be worth a shot.

The Ecclesall Bierlow one is 4th Qtr, vol 22,120.  He lived at Hoyland apparently and was buried at Wentworth on 1st December 1839.
Any use?

Thank you very much Shellyesq - that is really helpful - apparently members of the family were thrilled once to spot the bank in a western!  Henry Wilks Robinson, the President at the time was Edwin's son in law who married Minnie Maud Lewin.  What a pity we don't have any of the banknotes!
Again thank you very much for your help. :)

Dear Ambly and Sandra
Thank you so much for all your posts - they are amazing - I borrowed a load of letters from my sister in law and got really quite worried about William and his family, with no way I could see of finding out if they had survived the awful drought - and it looks as though the rains eventually came and life became better, though it doesn't look as if William had a very long life, does it :(.
Thank you very much

I don't think that's unusual for dates to be out like this - not a problem as I see it.   have his birth as 22nd September 1837.

Canada / William C Baston in Dafoe, Saskachewan

Last time the family heard from William was in 1937 when Saskachewan was having a really bad drought - he was born in Cheshire in 1892 and emigrated to Canada just before WW1 - in the 30s he was farming with his wife Jess and son (I think) Jack.  I always wonder if things got better for him.  Anyone have any idea please?

Dear Patrexjax
Apologies.  Texas, it is indeed.  Somehow I left that off.  I have a fair amount of info about him and his family, with the help of Family Search and a pile of family letters.  But there are gaps, and would love to know more about him.  (Actually my husband's relative, not mine)
Many thanks
