Cumberland / Re: John Hutchinson baptisms - look up at Cumbria Archives

Yes, I think he might be. Just a bit of a discrepancy in his occupation when his son gets married and some missing birth registrations. Have been on this track for quite a while but sticking at it. I can't find another John with a correct birth date in the right area apart from him. Perhaps the vicar just misheard his father's occupation at the time of his marriage.

I've also read it and really enjoyed it. Great research. What a lady she seems to have been.

Yes, I have read it as well and really enjoyed it. It is the family I think. I'm sure the author will be happy to see that you have enjoyed it too.

Iain
Having completely forgotten about this post I used HALS a while ago to research Martha's baptism and, although the register was destroyed in the fire, the bishop's transcript was available. A baptism was found for Martha at All Saints St John on 13th December 1801 with parents Joseph and Phebe Bullen (sic) which seems close enough to be the correct one. Joseph and Phoebe married at the same church in September 1801.
As for Martha's marriage to George Eva, that took place at St Mary's, Islington on the 19th August 1820 with the couple both of the parish. Unfortunately there is no information on the parents of either. George had moved to London from Cornwall to work so perhaps Martha had done the same.
Thank you for your help

Cumberland / John Hutchinson baptisms - look up at Cumbria Archives
« on: Tuesday 26 February 19 10:26 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for the baptism record of John Hutchinson about 1847 son of Richard (basket maker) and Mary Hutchinson. They were a travelling family and there are two possibilities with these parents:
6th January 1847 at Cumwhitton
26th March 1854 at Camerton
John's census records and death certificate give his birth around 1847 but I cannot find a birth registration. Perhaps the Camerton baptism was a second for him as his brother, Richard, was also baptised on that day. Both of the churches are in parishes where they lived.
Would anyone be able to look at these records for me please.

Thank you for your reply. Since I posted I have done some more research and had some information from HALS as I couldn't visit myself. Looking forward to seeing your report.

Finally visited when my family took me there as a birthday surprise. Even managed to see the married quarters where I was born. Lovely snowy weekend.
