An Elizabeth BENNETT of Granby Street, Devonport (Charity lived there in 1851) was buried at Ford Park Cemetery 27 Jan 1852, aged 30.

Thank you so much,  that’s definitely her I think. So that’s her solved. Now just to find Mary Ann.

Sep qtr 1851 Elizabeth Bennett m Thomas Pomeroy.
1861census 8 Geo. St. Stoke Dam.
Elizabeth Pomeroy, with a 'boarder' in household Samuel Bennett 67 widr.

Sounds promising?

Unfortunately that’s a different Elizabeth Bennett - father Samuel and mother is Sarah, I just managed to rule it out from the address.

Plus Elizabeth’s father died in 1840, leaving her mother Charity a widow.

Devon / Bennett Family

I am struggling to find these two people from my tree after the 1851 census. So wondering if some fresh eyes might be able to advise or help.

Both are daughters of Samuel Bennett and Charity Johns.

Firstly is:

Mary Ann Bennett born 1823 in Stoke Damerel (say Devonport on the census)

In 1841 she is with widowed mother Charity. In 1850 I believe she marries William Goddard. Then in 1851 she is in Plymouth with William and daughter Ruth Jane Goddard. After this I can’t find trace of any of them at all.

Secondly is her sister

Elizabeth Bennett born 1828 in Devonport

In 1841 she is at Cumberland Street in Stoke Damerel (a servant)

In 1851 I believe I have found her in Tamerton Foliott as a servant.

Then after this I can’t find trace of her anywhere. She could have married or died, but nothing obvious I can tie her into.

Thank you in advance.

so confusing with several different Williams, Edwards and Elizabeths lol. I guess I need to try and see if I can tie in by witnesses and occupations.

I still wonder if that Martha Langley death in St James Westminster is her, especially as I know family ends up in that area, it's just trying to confirm.

One more.

Elizabeth LANGLEY   Burial age 48   12 Apr 1826   Kent   Chatham : St Mary the Virgin

Colin

I wish it stated whether widow, married or single, as then this would give more clues as to whether her or not, but I think  this is a wife of one William Langley.

Elizabeth LANGLEY Burial age 53   17 Dec 1833 Kent Chatham : St Mary the Virgin : Parish Register

Elizabeth OLDING to William LANGLEY   Marriage   02 Oct 1798   Kent   Gillingham : St Mary Magdalene : Parish Register
Witness1   Frances JARVIS Witness2   Edward LANGLEY

Elizabeth DAY to William LANGLEY Marriage   14 Aug 1801 Kent Rochester : St Margaret of Antioch : Parish Register
Witness1   Elizabeth LANGLEY Witness2   Thomas TUFF

Ann CUSITE to Edward LANGLEY   Marriage   24 Dec 1806   Kent   Gillingham: St Mary Magdalene : both of the parish
Witness1   Anthony ROBERTSON Witness2   Sarah VARRELE

On freereg & family search there are births at Chatham for the names above from a couple of them it is clear that there were two William & Elizabeth's one William was a Seaman the other a Bricklayer. Names of children might help.

Colin

Thank you, I didn't notice the witness Sarah Varralle to Edward Langley and Ann Cusite marriage. Sarah is his sister (she married William Augustus Varrall), so I think I can assume this is her brothers marriage. Might be a cousin too I suppose, but right time for her brother.

Thanks for all those

So looks like Mary the daughter died thank you for that as I was trying locate a marriage. I still can't find anything for daughter Elizabeth. Couple of possible marriages but nothing definite.

I thought I found son Edward in Hoo, Kent in 1841 with a wife Hannah, but their deaths put their age  10 years out of the age on census, so not 100% sure. Both died in 1844. i think Hannah may be Ann?

I do think that death of William Langley (52nd regiment) might be him, but with no age it's hard to confirm. I've been trying to see if there is any military record which might give an year of birth.

There is a Martha Langley death in St James Westminster, and I know some later family ended up there, but no Langleys as far as I am aware, so not 100% sure if this is her yet, until I can pinpoint a Langley ended up in that area.

Son William there are two possibly marriages Elizabeth Costin and Elizabeth Day, I think the one who married Costin is older than my William, so more likely Elizabeth Day marriage. Too many Williams to confirm.

only thing I can find is an ancestry tree

Isabella Cameron to David Heggie - married 1905 Abernethy, Perthshire, Scotland

Isabella does appear to have a few sisters.

But no idea if the tree is 100% accurate of course and this could be totally wrong dates we are lookign for.

Is Heggie the first or second name? Both could be originally from Scotland, if you get the photo dated it would definitely give more to work from.
