Wow thank you for that Ian.

It was kind of you to look that up for me.

Looks like I need another nostalgia trip over there.

Thanks,
Diane   :D

Hi Ian,

No, I still don't know where Top Street was, although I have a suspicion it may have changed to Bridge Street.  So if you are ever at the local library it would be great if you could look it up!  :D

Thanks,
Diane

Hi,

Is there anyone who has access to the parish records of Creaton who would be prepared to do a lookup for me?

I have an Ann Biggs who married Richard Dunkley at Ravensthorpe in 1794.  I believe she was born in Creaton around 1775.

I would be very grateful,
Thank you,
Diane   :)

Hi,

Does anyone have access to the parish records of Ryton on Dunsmore?

I have a Charlotte Davis, born around 1810/11 who lived in Yelvertoft, Northants, but puts Ryton on the censuses as her birth place.

There does not appear to be anything on the IGI.  I would love to find out more about her and her parentage.  If anyone has access and is able to do a look up for me I would be very grateful.

Thanks,
Diane

Sorry I didn't get back to you.

George Cox appears to be Hatcham, and Ann is Chilton.

This was an interesting one, certainly different to the ag labs I look up in my family!   ;D

I don't know if it is the right family though, because I could find no Richard (c 1814) at all.   I worked backwards from 71:

1871  Bramshott Grange, Bramshott

William Erle  H  M  77  Ret'd chief justice of xxx? Knight des'd.  Born Fitelrad Magdeline, Dorset
Carloline Erle W M  56            Born Winchester

Also in household 10 servants, inc. Housekeeper, Cook, Butler, etc.

1861  Bramshott Grange

William Erle  H M  67  The H'rable Sir William, Lord chief justice  xxxxx?        Born Fopha Meydalen, Dorset
Amelia Erle  W M  46  Knight's wife  born Winchester

Also 13 servants, etc. etc

1851  Bramshott Grange

Amelia Erle  W M  36  Wife to xxxx justice xxx  born Winchester
xxxxy Elizth xxx sister U 28             born Winchester

+servants

1851  Norwich St John de Sepulchre,  10 Surrey Road

William Erle lodger M 57 Judge of the Queen's xxxx  Born Dorset.

(lodging with miscellanious judges, barristers, etc).

I hope this is of use to you.  I'm not sure why Amelia changed to Caroline.  Sorry about some of the xxxx's - impossible to read.  The Dorset placenames are how they were transcribed in the index.

Bramshott is only 3-4 miles down the road from me.

Diane :)

Hi Lesane,

Glad to help, but not very good at this because of my ancient computer.  It won't enhance the images, and some are very poor.

Is this them?   Cookham

George Cox  H M  49(?) Labourer
Ann Cox       W M  47(?)
Wm (?) "      S        13(?)
Harriet  "      D        12
Martha (?)    D          9
George (?)    S          7
James C (?)  S           5
??                 D          3

All the children classed as scholars and born in Cookham.  I couldn't read the places for George and Ann.  I will check the index again and get back to you.

Sorry, the names were very faint.  ???

« on: Friday 11 November 05 19:09 GMT (UK)  »
Sorry, this does not help much.  I couldn't find him at all in 51 or 61, but presumably this is him in 71 (not b Leighton Buzzard though):

5 Silchester Street, Kensington:

William Bolinger  lodger  21  Unm  greengrocer  b. Kensington

Hope it helps a bit,
Diane
