Armed Forces / Color Sgt Linnane Royal Irish Fusiliers
« on: Monday 03 May 21 18:38 BST (UK)  »
Hi, i would be grateful for any military information regarding Color Sgt Thomas Linnane who served in India, Egypt, and the Boer war he took part in the siege of Mafeking with the 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers when he was mentioned in dispatches.

In 1901 he was stationed at Arbour hill barracks in Dublin when his son was born, it looks as if he was discharged in 1902, as when his wife gave birth to his daughter in 1902 he was listed as a 'watchman' and later birth in 1906 Thomas was stated as an 'army pensioner'.

Thomas died in tragic circumstances in 1910 aged 55.
any further info would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Dublin / marriage Florence LInnane.
« on: Sunday 02 May 21 19:30 BST (UK)  »
Im have difficulty locating a marriage record for a Florence Linnane to a Peter O'Reilly circa 1920s, possibly in Dublin?

The variations of the spelling of both surnames may be the problem, but I believe Florence's father was a 'drummer', possibly x British army, as they lived in the 'army houses' in the Leeson st area?

Peter was originally from Cavan born circa 1893mand the address for  Lwr Leitrim rd between Mullagh and Baliborough was mentioned.
Peter was believed to have been in the IRA and would later become a Sgt in the Gardai where he was presented in 1926 with the gold Scott Medal (the 3rd Garda to receive it)

Florence died in 1967 aged 61, but it's Peter's early life that I'm interested in, perhaps someone with access to early garda files/archives may turn up some early info?
any help would be really appreciated

Dublin / Crumlin 1938.
« on: Thursday 14 January 21 13:40 GMT (UK)  »
Hi I have a birth linked to 220 Glenard road Crumlin in 1938, im having difficulty in finding where in Crumlin Glenard Rd was, and I am presuming it would have been one of the 'new' estates that popped up in the area during the 1930s, the Delaney surname is linked to this address, though perhaps for personal reasons this was a false/non existant address?
any help appreciated as usual.
Thank you.

Hi im wondering can anyone educate me as to the origin of the surname 'Ungerland',in particular if it is of Jewish origin and what part of Europe it would have been most common?

I know it was the surname of actor Barry Fitzgeralds' mother who married in COI Church in Dublin in the 1880s.

Wicklow / Coogan/Kinsella Marriage circa 1850 Ballinasilloge.
« on: Sunday 02 August 20 18:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I would be grateful for any info relating to a marriage of John Coogan to Bridget Kinsella circa 1850 in the Ballinsilloge or possibly Hackettown area.
Im aware that they had at least 8 children with birth's startin circa 1852.
Mary-John-Ann-Ellen-Thomas-Patrick-Bridget-James.

1901 Census no 7 Ballinasilloge has Patrick aged 38 and single.

I notice that also 1901 has a Thomas Kinsella aged 40 with family at No 4 Ballinasilloge another Kinsella family at number 8 Ballinasilloge.

The location of Ballinasilloge on the Wicklow/Carlow border poses problems as Hacketstown may have been a location for registering marriages etc.

So basically I would be grateful for any record of John and Bridgets marriage record circa 1850, or indeed any link to the Coogan/Kinsella families in the area prior to 1850.

Thank you.

London and Middlesex / Lokking for possible link between address's 1919-21
« on: Sunday 19 July 20 13:53 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I know this is a long shot but im looking to find if there was a possible link between 3 address's in London between August 1919-1921.

There were 3 letter's sent to Ireland from Kitty Delaney worked as servant-possibly childrens nanny to her home fbetween 1919-1921, the letter in 1921 was the last heard of Catherine/Kitty.

The address's were.
9 upper Brook st, Park Lane, London...this was dated Aug 20th (no year)

Cadogan Sq, Chelsea, London.

22 Trugunter Rd, Sth Kensington, London.

Im looking at the possibility of same/extended family owning/inhabiting these address's circa 1919-1921.

Attention Admin, I have posted regs Tregunter Rd and Catherine/Kitty Delaney in a previous Post on this thread, if this needs to be added/included in those please accept my apologies.
Thank you.

Kildare / Mary Delaney
« on: Wednesday 15 July 20 22:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi, Im looking for help in tracing the death of Mary Delaney last known address would have been Naas Hospital circa 1921 when she was a 'patient' there, I understand that the 'Hospital' in 1921 would have also been known as The workhouse/union, so its very likely that Mary was an inmate and not a patient as was described in the letter.
The letter had been sent from her daughter in England inquiring as to her mothers health, the reply from someone at the hospital/workhouse was that Mary 'would be unaware' of inquries made about her (perhaps suffering from menatl illness?)

Mary was the wife of Jeremiah Delaney and would have been 62 yrs of age if census age in 1911 is accurate, the address in 1911 for the couple and son Thomas aged 15 was 32 Rosberry Morrisstownbiller Kildare.

On 21-June 1913 Mary's husband Jeremiah (Labourer) died at Rosberry, his son Thomas was informant.

I believe that Thomas was in the British army at the time.

Im having problems in finding a date of death or burial place for Mary, she is not buried with her husband, im wondering are there any records for burial's from Naas Workhouse/Hospital and where they can be found.
Any help much appreciated, thank you.
