Travelling People / peg leg parker and her family.
« on: Thursday 29 January 15 16:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all. I wander if someone might be able to help me with my parker brick wall. I know my 3 xgg was margaret "peg leg" parker. peg leg died in 1907 in stotfold, beds she drowned in a ditch. I have the inquest report from the local paper if anyone would like to see it and it is allowed to post paper articles on here. Her death cert says she was 80 yrs old, im not sure about that.
I have the following children for peg and an unknown partner.
Solomon parker aka loveridge bn 1867-1932, his partner was florabella Loveridge (daughter of Henry Loveridge and Sarah Smith, also parents of my great grandad stevie, they are another mystery couple)
Lena. could be selina. i know nothing at all about her.
Eliza 1872-1961 (my 2xgg) partner of Israel Loveridge. (there daughter lavinia was my great gran)
Mariah 1876-1965. Partner of John Loveridge (son of Thomas Loveridge and Susan Parker)
Leonard Parker 1878-1961. Partner of Lemontina Draper (daughter of Nelson parker/Israel Draper and Naomi smith).
Fanny Parker, (newly discovered) cant find a birth or death. She partnered Joseph smith and had 4 sons one of which Edward parker was bn in 1912 in hampshire.

I can not find anymore info about them. Im sure there must be more children for peg leg, if she was born around 1835 she would have been what 33 when she had solomon, he couldnt have been her first child. I can not find any of them in the census record or baptism records for the children. I have my eliza's birth certifcate and intend to get solomon's. According to the inquest report she was sometimes known as peggy smith, so i have looked for the family as smiths but no luck. I have tried and tried to find more on them but they are proving very elusive. Most of them were born in Bedfordshire. They travelled around the beds,Herts, Essex, Suffolk and Bucks areas. If anyone can find anything anything at all i would be very greatful.
Thanks so much Tracey

Berkshire / john walters and wife mary christoph?
« on: Tuesday 13 January 15 19:20 GMT (UK)  »
Hi. Ive been trying to find the marriage record for my 4 xx ggs Jonathan Walters and Mary . John was bn in 1783- 1874 and his wife Mary 1794 -1877. They are from Berkshire. Jonathan's parents are Richard Walter and Mary Pottinger but i can find nothing about his wife. My aunt who originally researched this part of the tree has her down as Mary Christoph but im not sure of this as i can find nothing about anyone with that name. She can not remember where she got the name from.
So im hoping to find a marriage and maybe Mary's maiden name. Also the first child i have for them is James my ancestor bn 1826 so Jon would have been 43, so i wander are there earlier children or was he their first. There were two more after Richard and Ann.
Jon and Mary are buried in st gregorys church, welford.
thanks so much for any help.

Leicestershire / Robert Turvill bn 1819.
« on: Saturday 27 December 14 18:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all i wander if anyone can help me. Ive been trying to find for a while now the date of death of my 2 xgg Robert Turvill who was born in harby, leics in 1819 to Robert Turvill 1791-1840 and Mary Pick 1800-1858. He marries Sarah HInks in 1866 although several of there kids where born prior to then, my great gran Matilda was bn in 1871.
The last census entry i can find for him is 1881, sarah died in 1878. he is in leicester st leonard, he is a widower and a coal seller.
I can not find his date of death he doesnt appear to be in the 1891. Matilda was in derby by then so i checked derbyshire but no.
so today i thought i would try R Turvill and various spellings of tur***. i came up with a Richard Turville bn 1826 died 1888 in leicester. I have had a look for this Richard in various census and births and marriages but i can not not find one who fits. SO i wander could richard be robert. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks so much Tracey

Hello all. Not quite sure where to post this or the best way to describe it. So please bear with me. My elderly uncle has been ill and had quite a few problems lately, I wont go into everything but he has pretty much lost everything. So his daughters and I want to give him something to cheer him up.
He has always been very interested in my research and what I have discovered. So we want to give him a copy of the tree as I now have it and photos and such of our ancestors. So im looking for a album, book or someway of presenting all the info and photos I have. Not something printed professionally as I cant afford that, but something I can do myself but in a nice presentation format. So far I only have back to my 3 x greats so it doesn't need to be huge. probably be as much as he would want anyway. Although on his mum's dad I do not know much at all.
So any ideas or suggestions would be very gratefully received .

Bedfordshire / phillys loveridge. trying to find her birth.
« on: Monday 01 September 14 13:43 BST (UK)  »
I wander if any one could help me please. I am trying to find either a baptism or birth reg for phyllis. She was born about 1930. She always believed her birth date was 8 th may 1930. But she never had a birth certificate. She died in 2004. Her daughter has asked me to find her birth. She was born in luton on Dallow lane. I don't know the nearest church to that maybe she was baptised there. Her parents were Joseph and Amadine loveridge. Her brothers and sisters were all registered so I am sure she was. There is a thought that she may have been registered with a different name. There other children were Cinderella bn 1913, Job bn 1915, Israel 1918, Queenie 1921, Charlie 1923, Nelson 1927, then Phyllis, last child Annie 1931.
There is a couple of possibles born in beds, Ivy 1925 and Violet 1930. There is also a couple of possibles registered in Herts. Sylvia 1930 and violet 1930.
Any help which could help me work out or find her would  be great.

The Common Room / george edward hunt.
« on: Saturday 05 April 14 15:07 BST (UK)  »
hello all not sure if this is the right place for this so sorry if it is not. im doing a hunt for a friend , she didn't know the name of either of her grandfathers, ive now found both of them and gone up there lines but am stuck with her mum's dad. his name was George Edward hunt bn 1879 in great baddow ,nr Chelmsford Essex. I have found his parents and they are all from this same village. now his wife was a Florence brazier I cant find there marriage which was about 1901 or her family although there are braziers in the same village but no Florence. so im struggling a bit with flo but my biggest head banger is George he was supposed to have died in 1st ww but I can not find anything for him. there is a George hunt who died in 1916 but geneology helpfully tells me his age was 0 so that tells me nothing. so if anyone can help me find George I would be very grateful. his parents were George and anne nee beadle.

Travelling People / eliza loveridge parker bn 1872
« on: Monday 24 March 14 09:21 GMT (UK)  »
hello everyone. so I got the certificate for the above on Saturday, hoping it would be another child of my 3 xggs Alfred and comfort. there previous 2 children ambrose and my 2x Israel were bn in 67 and 69, both had been registered as ambrose/ Israel loveridge (as middle name) parker. all 3 kids were bn in befordshire so it seemed possible to me that eliza would be one of my lot as ive not come across the using of loveridge as middle name and parker as surname with anyone else.
Alfred was a loveridge and comfort a parker and they were unmarried.
but the mother was Margaret parker not comfort. no father listed and she was bn in thurleigh (even odder my 2xgg eliza parker was bn the following day in cranfield to another Margaret parker, eliza was Israel's partner)
so who is this eliza loveridge parker and who is Margaret. ive had a good look for both of them and nothing jumps out at me. all the following children of alf and comfort were registered as parker only ,she must have got bored with adding loveridge or maybe she took offence at this Margaret doing what she had done. who knows. I wander if marg and comfort were sisters, could they both have been with Alfred.
so I wander has anyone come across this other eliza and Margaret or got any ideas how I could work out who they are. so frustrating as this is yet another mystery with my people.
thanks tracey
