hi. and thankyou for this info. im a bit confused though, not difficult for me.  the 1901 family could possibly be right, i guess other children would have been born after this, so if lavina is one of those her parents would be stephen and susan.
is the joseph and elizabeth one then parents of another lavina.
sorry im new to all this translating stuff.
thanka again for you help. tracey

hi all i thought id update my post. have spoken by email to chinacharlie and we think somehow we are related but because i havent yet figured out lavina's parents names we cant connect them.
i have found a few places where you can put the info in and you get a hit but then to see it you have to join a site where you then have to pay. i dont have that sort of money so am getting a little stuck. i am joining the roma and trav family history group i hope that will help me. ive decided to concentrate on lavina first, but i wont get anywhere till i discover her parents names. my next step is to write to my mum's cousins and see if any of them can help, she is not in contact with them so ive got a bit of a job. oh well who said anything in life was easy  :D.  not sure if this will work but ive tried to post a couple of piccys of my gran, great gran lavina and steven just so you can see them,

hi china thankyou so much for your reply and your pm , will sit and pm you when i get 5 mins, ive just come in from being out but saw your reply and wanted to reply quick. when my gran's partner sam died in about 1952 she came back to markyate as that is where her mum and sisters lived, apart from her eldest sister who married a mike ayers. gran then lived in markyate for nearly 50 years. also i noticed you are looking at meads too, because when steven parker died , lavina my g. gran married a john mead, and one of her daughters also married a mead. seems to me it was a very small world round markyate back then. i wouldnt be at all surprised if your lot knew my lot.
will be back. thanks again so much tracey

i wander if that will make it easier or harder, being descended from a huge well known family i mean.  can you imagine if all the current descendants got together , i reckon that we would all need the albert hall, i know lavina had 10 kids and she had lots of siblings and that is just our branch.  :o :o
thankyou for pming chinacharlie, it would be intresting to discover if maybe somewhere along the line we were related.

thankyou rob and lyne. i shall check out those sites and wait to hopefully hear from chinacharlie. tracing our family tree is something my cousin and i have wanted to do for a long time, but it has been hard to pin them down. my cousin and i share both sides of our families, i.e her dad my mum's brother married my dad's sister and that is how my parents met. so the other side of our family the country farming folk from berkshire who all lived in one area have all been traced back to the 1700's by my aunt, but the romany side well not so easy.but we will keep trying.
thanks tracey

hi all. i am new to the forum and new to trying to trace my family. my cousin and i have tried a couple of times but we both seem to hit a brickwall. we arent really sure where to start so i thought id start here to see if we could get any help or tips.
my gran was born margaret "peggy" parker in may 1918. she had 5 sisters, they were .
lemmy, peggy, prissy, ding, comfort and martha. (im not 100% on the order but i know lemmy and peggy(gran) were in that order.
there parents were lavina loveridge and steven parker.
lavina died in 1989 aged around 91yrs. steven died back in the 30's i think although im not sure on the exact date.
they travelled around the beds/herts/bucks area again im not quite sure where but i do know lavina and steven settled in markyate herts, which was were she died.
my gran peggy at some point moved up to derby and "married" my grandad sam gill, they travelled in this area for about 12 yrs till sam died in about 1952.
we dont know much more than this, we would like to find out more about the loveridge/parker families and my grandads gill familyif anyone can help we would all be very grateful. also any tips about were and what to do next. thanks so much tracey
