Staffordshire / Thoughts on Louisa Rea Mullett
« on: Friday 25 September 15 13:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Anybody have any ideas on Louisa Rea Mullett?
She was born 1827 in Dudley or Sedgley
She married in 1846 at St Mary's Kingswinford a George Armstrong from Bromley.
Familysearch gives her father as Thomas Rea.
I haven't seen the original but the only baptism I can see is Louisa Mullett daughter of Sarah baptised at Dudley  19.4.1835  and born 27.7.1830.

Can anybody spot her or her family or have any thoughts on her father Thomas .Obviously it looks like she was illegitimate but i can't find any of the three out there on the 1841 census etc.

Can you help?

« on: Thursday 11 June 15 11:22 BST (UK)  »
Good Morning
I know this is really checky but could any one do a look up at the Hive?
I have a Edward Paggett born c 1715 at Old Swinford ,a stay maker who moves to Bridgnorth in 1735.
Trouble is there are 3 possible christenings:-
Edward 1713 to Edward and Mary nee Allen possible nail maker
Edward 1713 to John and Ann nee Shakespeare hammerman Stourbridge
Edward 1714 to William and Hannah nee Littlefoot clothier Stourbridge.

One dies as a baby, one is apprenticed to a toy maker in Bilston and one is mine.

So..,could anyone have a quick look at the Will index in Worcester and see if there is a Will which may help?
I know it's a big ask but I don't live locally and if I'm going to make the trip it would be nice to know that there is something to look at when I get there.

Thank you for your time and fingers crossed you can help.

Hi there
I've got a lady from my Family History group who's looking for a birth Reg /Cert for her grandfather born 24.8.1905 .But I've checked all registrations Sep qtr 1905 for West Bromwich and nothing.

So can any one spot
Leonard Follos  born 24.8.1905 supposed parents Harriet Follos (born 1880 Tipton) and James Laffey

No father on Leonards marriage cert but supposed brother James Follos born 1904 does have a father James Laffey labourer deceased.James's birth cert names states James Follos late Laffy son to  single mother Harriet Follos .

Both boys with grandparents Sampson and Harriet Follos in Wednesbury 1911 ,no sign of parents.
Possible James Laffey born 1879 Bilston died Wolverhampton 1921 but not on 1901 and 1911 censuses.

« on: Tuesday 06 January 15 11:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all.
I'm looking for a Thomas Rix born 1813 in Whitechapel son of Charles and Dinah Rix corkcutter.

I can't find him in earlier censuses but in 1871 census he is in Elstree St London
Thomas Ricks 57 Chelsea pensioner lodger Whitechapel
Mary Ricks 65 lodger Whitechapel (sister)
Eliza Page 16 necktie maker Newington (great niece)

I can't find his military records and I'd assumed as a Chelsea pensioner he'd be relatively easy to find.
Any advice?

Other Countries / Mills family Saint Ann Jamaica
« on: Friday 12 September 14 12:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Doing a bit of research for a member of my Family History group.
Her family came from St Anns and so far tracked them down to a Charles Mills and Elizabeth (b c 1785)having children 1808-1830's.Charles 1808,Mary 1810,Catherine 1812,Tom Peter 1814,William Richard 1817 and John c 1826.
I know Elizabeth Gordon Brown born 1785 was a slave of Frances Gordon 1753-1837 nee Hilton late Lawrence and was freed 1824/5.
So far so good but not finding anything at all on Charles Mills who I believe was white and presumably from Europe.
Any ideas on tracking the family, records or family trees of either the Mills family or the slave owners Frances Gordon and her son William Whitehorn Lawrence (who owned Lawrence Park estate ) ?
Sorry to say it's not really my area of expertise and I'm sure there's someone out there who could help.Desperately need something to say for two hours next week!
Thank you for your time and consideration

Norfolk / Searching for Sarah Spurill/Spurrell
« on: Saturday 16 August 14 10:35 BST (UK)  »
Good Morning
I'm looking for a Sarah Spurill/Spurrell who married a Thomas Rix baker form Kings Lynn in 1766 at St George's Southwark.Their eldest child Thomas born 1769 ,where?
They returned to Kings Lynn by 1775 but I've no idea of a baptism or parents for Sarah.
Spurrell is a Norfolk name so I'm assuming that she also came from Norfolk but no idea where.
The witnesses to the marriage are his sister Jane and her husband Daniel Tyler so no clues there.
I've found her burial at Lynn in 1783 but with  no age ,her last child was born in 1781.
Has anyone any ideas on finding Sarah, her parents or the baptism of her first child Thomas?
Any suggestions very welcome.
