Staffordshire / Benjamin Ainesworth married Sarah Cartwright 1788.
« on: Thursday 22 December 22 12:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hello there.
This has been a brickwall of mine for some time.
Benjamin and Sarah lived in Willenhall and Benjamin was a locksmith.
They married at St Peters Wolverhampton in 1788
Children Mary 1789 ,William 1791 ,Stephen 1794 ,Theodosia 1795 ,Charles 1797 ,Sarah 1802 ,John 1805 ,Benjamin 1808,Elizabeth 1810
I can't  find a baptism for Benjamin.

There is a 1758 marriage at Wolverhampton for Benjamin Aynesworth a soldier of this parish and Mary Isaacson .
Surely thy must be his parents.
There is a daughter Catherine buried at Bilston 1767 but no sign of any other children.

Any ideas?

Hi
Hope someone can help.
Looking up a family for a friend and I came accross this chap Henry Crber Rundle born 1845 in St Stephen ,Cornwall son of Amos Crymes Rundle and Sally Kingdon .
He's with grandparents in 1851 and at a boarding school in 1861 .
Then he disappears until 1901 .
Suddenly he is the Manager of the Local Sewage Farm ,living near his parents.
He should as the eldest son inherit the Farm at Colhay but no he gets £30 a year ,down graded from £36 a year in his father's Will.
Any ideas would be welcome.

Hello and Good Morning

She is on the 1841 census with the family. Her birthplace is Dorset but by the 1851 she has died.
I've got her burial which gives a birth c 1775.
There seem to be Hackwells in North Perrott just over the border but no Martha.
Any ideas?

Thank you for any help you could give

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / re DNa match
« on: Saturday 01 February 20 10:39 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I'm writing a genealogical story and for the sake of the plot I need to ask a question about DNA.
I have two sisters and their offspring ,a granddaughter and a daughter .
So a first cousin once removed.
Would they immediately appear as a close match on a DNA  testing site or could I get away with the match being lower down the list and initially missed?

After all if the two sisters only pass on 50% of their DNA to their children it doesn't have to be the same bit does it?

Staffordshire / 1901 census look up
« on: Saturday 01 February 20 10:35 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I have a couple George Willis Keatley and his wife Emily Hodgkiss .
George is born 1870 Sutton Coldfield and Emily 1872 .
They marry at Weeford in 1891 and are on the 1891 census at Swinford.
I can find George on the 1911 at Hammerwich with his oldest and youngest sons  but he is married and no sign of Emily or the others.
Children
James 1891
George 1893
Ellen Annie 1896
Arthur Frederick 1899
Rose 1901

Two of the children George and Ellen Annie depart for Canada in 1905 as British Home children.
Rose is with an 'aunt' Emily Ramsbottom and her husband in 1911 in Manchester.
I very much suspect the 'aunt' is her mother.

What happened and where are they on the 1901 census?

Worcestershire / Who is Bridget?
« on: Friday 25 October 19 15:13 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Looking at the Smiths of Worcester.
I found William Smith born 1801 at Friars Alley Worcester in 1841.
Living with him is a Bridget Smith born 1813 from Ireland.
I think I've got his baptism 1796 St Martins to John and Lucy Smith.
But no sister Bridget.

William a widower remarries in 1842 to Susannah Mallet at All Saints.
witness is Bridget Craven who goes on to marry John Percival in 1850 at St Clements.
She and her husband are living two doors down from the widowed Susannah Smith on the 1851 census in St Clements St. Bridget is born 1824 Dublin.

So is Bridget Craven/Percival originally Bridget Smith ?  There are 3 possible children but mother's maiden name is Craven.

Who is Bridget Smith born 1813?
Is she William's sister ,daughter ?

Any ideas?

Unfortunately it's not on line.
I think it will be at All Saints as she came from that parish or possibly at St Clement where they lived after the marriage and he was buried in 1850.
I'd really like to know his father's name.
I'd really appreciate it if anyone can help.

Huntingdonshire / James smith born 1837 in st Ives.
« on: Friday 18 October 19 11:33 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Anyone fancy a challenge?
I have a James Smith born 1837 in st Ives.
He turns up in Wolverhampton c 1874 as a clock maker ,repairer and meets up with Sarah Moore ,a local girl from Aston Birmingham born c 1844.
There seems to be no marriage but they go on to have 12 children.
In 1911 on the census he is a OAP but also mentions ten years service in the Army as an officers servant.

I can't find anything on that.
There is a possible James smith on the 1841 census son of William and Elizabeth in St Ives.On the 1851 dad William has died and he is with his widowed mother and siblings. The youngest George was born in 1850.If these are his parents then his mother was a Miss Richardson.

Can anyone find anything on James?
It doesn't seem like the records from the parish of St Ives are on line.
Any ideas welcome.
