« on: Thursday 23 January 20 19:24 GMT (UK)  »
Evening,

How would one go about finding out why some one was mentioned in dispatches?

My great grandfather Percy Langley was mentioned in dispatches November 8th 1918 for gallant and distinguished services.

Cheshire / Birth of Ellen Almand
« on: Sunday 19 January 20 11:31 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I am having trouble finding the birth reg or baptism of Ellen Almand born in 1851 Churton, Cheshire.
Her parents were William Almand and Harriet Edwards.
Her parents however married in 1853, which would point to Ellen probably being Harriets illegitimate daughter.
I think I have found Harriet as a servant for the Lowe family in Clutton, Cheshire in 1851.

I have tried looking for births in the area of both Ellen Almand (name varies spelling) and Ellen Edwards, with no luck.

Can anyone help?

Hello,

I am wondering if there is a way anyone could find out the details of a civil marriage without having to buy a marriage cert?

I am interested in the marriage of John Yorke and Ann(e) Brook(e)s that took place in 1873. I am hoping to find John's father's name.

Hope someone can help!

« on: Friday 18 October 19 08:09 BST (UK)  »
Hello, would you say Ireland appears twice here?
One gives more detail saying county Claire and the other just Ireland.
I notice that the hand writing that is also different.

My relative is the one with just Ireland and now I’m wondering is it says something else and is *land, Lancashire.

Hello, I am struggling to find the death of my ancestor Ann Barnett. Sh was born in Tunstall in 1787 according to the 1851 census where she was in Burslem, Staffordshire. I cant find her in the next census, so assume she died before 1871.
I am hoping a fresh pair of eyes may help find her.

Hope you can help

England / Which William!?
« on: Sunday 05 May 19 12:29 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

So some time ago i fell into the trap of doing copy and paste family history. Now I am doing a proper job, I am discovering what a mistake that was!

I have a distant uncle William Bennion bapt in Whitchurch Shropshire 27/8/1780.
I have him marrying twice, once to Sarah Price in 1806 and then to Mary Ashton in 1809.

Looking again it appears he had 2 sons John and William in Malpas Cheshire and then Joseph 1811, Sarah 1813, James 1814, Sam 1818, Thomas 1820 and Philip 1822 in Whitchurch Shropshire.
Obviously this overlaps with the marriage to Mary.

There are a lot of trees that just have the Malpas born sons and then have him marrying Mary. I think its clear he was just married to the one of these, and there are 2 William Bennions in the area.

I am favouring Sarah Price as the correct wife but am struggling to definitively prove this. Then I cant help but think the 2nd William will fit in my tree elsewhere, but I can only find one baptism around 1780.

Can anyone help?
