Aberdeenshire / William and Jane Buchan
« on: Thursday 02 February 12 16:32 GMT (UK)  »
I am searching for any trace of my GGG Grandparents, William Buchan (who was a Fisherman) and Jane (or possibly Jean?) Buchan (ms Tait).

Their daughter Helen Buchan (later married as Helen Alexander) was born at Inverallochy 21.6.1835 and died 27.12.1873 at Peterhead.

From the 1841 census (when they were living together with children Helen then 6, William 4, and Alexander 3 months, at Cruden) they were both born c. 1796, and were both dead when their daughter married in 1860, but other than the above I cannot find any further trace???

Selkirkshire / Mary Eckford (ms Wilson)

I am trying to trace a death cert for my GGG Grandmother, Mary Eckford (ms. Wilson).  She was born at Galashiels on 1.5.1816, and maried Thomas Eckford.  Thomas, who was a shepherd, died 7.2.1894 in Edinburgh.

Their daughter (and my GG Grandmother) Mary Eckford (later maried as Mary Stark) was born c.1850 in or aound St Boswells, and died 28.1.1933.

I'm pretty sure she lived beyond 1855, but can't find any death cert in the Borders or Edinburgh.  Any ideas??

It's the 1867 death cert that I can't trace, but the son Hugh's birth entry in Aberdeen list Donald as a Blacksmith, yes.

Apologies Malky - I had seen that death cert - I neglected to include in my original post that Donald's parents were Hugh Fraser and Helen Urquhart.

I am trying to trace the death cert for my GGG Grandfather Donald Fraser who was born Cromarty 23.9.1811.  He married Margaret Davidson (b. 27.10.1815, Cromarty), and their son Hugh Fraser (my GG Grandfather) was born 30.1.1842 Aberdeen, and died Edinburgh 11.2.1882.

I know Margaret died in Glasgow on 26.2.1882, and I have seen a family tree on Ancestry which states Donald died in 1867, however I can't find his death cert on Scotlands People.

Any ideas where to try next???

Aberdeenshire / Alexander Wright & Margaret Black, Turriff

I am having trouble tracing what became of my GGG Grandparents, Alexander Wright and Margaret Black.

What I know is as follows:

Alexander was born in Turriff about 1819
Margaret was born in Turriff on 30.7.1820

They were married on 23.11.1844 also in Turriff

Their son, also Alexander (my GG Grandfather) was born on 14.3.1850 in Turriff

I have found them on the 1851 census living in Turriff, where Alexander is working as a farm labourer at the Mitchell's farm at Shannocks.

There's a pretty good chance that they lived beyond 1855 I think, but I can't find any death certs.  I know they were boh deceased in 1912 when Alexander jr died.

Anyone know of any other sources for finding their death certs???
