Suffolk / Re: Suffolk parish registers to go online?

Improving news...Bring it on!
I'm interested in your proposed visit to Lowestoft RO,  Registry Office I presume.  What records are they likely to have prior to the formation of GRO in 1837? Are there similar facilities elsewhere in Suffolk?

I will certainly try to find the will, thank you, Heywood.

In truth I've only approached a couple so far, with no repsonse. However, isn't it  reasonable to assume, particularly with trees in conflict, that they would support the entries on their tree with sources? E.g the marriage of Eliz. Heywood to George Openshaw of Seales seems well supported by bond and allegations. .

The point is, dear Garstonite, that the many trees are in conflict, and DON't give the source of their conflicting entries; hence my enquiry. Still no sources!

Lancashire / James Openshaw 1660, Bury Lancashire

James (ofttimes referred to as Jamye) Openshaw is stated in a large number of family trees as being born in 1660 at Pimhole, near Bury, Lancashire England, but I have been unable to find one reference to a reliable documentary evidence source. His father is said to have been James born 1639, his mother Mary unknown (though this might be a red herring due to a second marriage).  Can any Openshaw fans out there please direct me to a dated baptism record for James 1660?
Reference is also made to his death by drowning in 1717 while drowning; it would be interesting also to see the source of this tale.

This really would turn John Lord's version its head!  But it's the difficulty to find evidence sources that is my difficulty and which must partly at least be the cause of all these "incorrect" trees.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Ormerod of Cliviger, Burnley.

I am researching Wike, back to Openshaw back to Ormerod of Cliviger, Burnley, Lancashire. I am seeking help from any Ormerod contributor who has gone back to Peter Ormerod of Ormerod 1588.
There is much conflicting information on various family trees of the Ormerod Clan of Burnley and, later, Bury. This might in part be due to differing information on early published material, in particular Lord’s Bygone Bury and  Burke’s Genealogical Dictionary.  I would probably come down in favour of the former: he was a Bury man and clearly knew the families, and what is more, he published his work in a series in the Bury Times, and if he had been wrong, this would probably have brought local challenges. Nevertheless, I cannot find source evidence for some of his assertions.
Can anyone who is well informed please direct me to primary evidence source so that I can resolve any of the following queries.
PETER ORMEROD of Ormerod 1588, Born 1588 to Lawrence Ormerod & Elizabeth Barcrofte. [John Lord’s “Bygone Bury”]
Was Peter’s Marriage 1609 to Joanna Howarth, daughter of George, of Monton ["Omerod of Tyldesley & Sedbury," (Burke, 1868, p. 1130)] …OR  to Jennett Howarth, daughter of John of Monton  [John Lord’s “Bygone Bury”]
GEORGE ORMEROD 1620 , son of Peter
What record is there of Gerge’s marriage 1669 to Anne Pilling (who came from Eccles [John Lord’s “Bygone Bury”]).
Is there any evidence of Anne’s birth?
OLIVER ORMEROD  1672 son of George.  One source states born in Lancaster, bapt’d 1673.
Was  Oliver’s marriage 1704 to Ann, dtr of Charles Howarth of Chatterton Hey at Tottington. [“Ormerod of Tyldesley & Sedbury," (Burke, 1868, p. 1130)] … OR to Ailces Howorth at Bury [England Marriages, MyHeritage] .  Alice was daughter of Charles Howarth & Margaret Key of Tottington [John Lord’s “Bygone Bury”]
Geo. died at Eccles in 1696, his occupation having been “Merchant”.

ELIZABETH ORMEROD  1706  dtr of Oliver Ormerod
…who married Jon Openshaw in 1728.
Was Eliz’s mother Anne or Alice?

We are not connected to any of those as far as I am aware.

Thanks for the Norwich Diocese tip, Coombs.
