Thanks. I have all the records from South Australia for the family. Just trying to find out if the William Stevens who said he was born in Bristol (from document in SA), was my William.

With a name like William, eliminating people can be just as helpful.

On old newspaper in Australia ,it had that a Henry Stevens was born 1818 in Bottle,Wiltshire.

Im actually concentrating on William Stevens. He was in Australia by 1849 when he married & did not go back to England. As I said ,I found document in SA for a possibility for my William which said that he was born in Bristol.

Gloucestershire / STEVENS- Bristol baptism lookup

Could someone lookup a baptism of William STEVENS born c 1829 ish,son of Richard, in Bristol.

Trying to confirm/eliminate if this is my GGGrandfather.

William Stevens born c 1829,son of Richard, came to South Australia before 1849.

Found documents of a William Stevens who arrived in SA that stated he was born in Bristol.
There is another man ,Henry STEVENS who stated born Bottle (Bottlesford?) in Wiltshire in 1818 who came to SA.

Thanks for any help

Berkshire / Newspaper lookup for Abingdon area

Newspaper lookup for death of Richard STEVENS in Oct/Nov/Dec 1881 Abingdon, Berkshire, England. Born c 1801,occupation Boat Builder. Wife Sarah nee ACKLING (married in 1823).

Trying to confirm that William STEVENS born c 1829 in Abingdon, was the same William who came to South Australia before 1849.(my GGGrandfather)

I know that there are trees with William listed with this parentage but I would like to confirm this. If I was able to get a newspaper notice of Richard’s death, maybe it may list his children’s names,eg saying that son William was in Australia.

Thankyou for any help

Fife / Re: BALFOUR help please?

Thankyou for your help.

Alexander Balfour Feltus born 1859 (groom in clipping) ,son of James & Jane Feltus b c 1815 (nee Balfour).

Alexander Balfour was born probably sometime before 1784,so if he was the son of  John & Ellen Balfour, then it would not be too distant a kinship.

I had considered that maybe AB Feltus was telling porkies to impress his bride. Maybe they both were telling lies but this is my only clue to Alexander's ancestry. Trying to follow up every little clue I find.

Off to look at the website that I hadn't found on my earlier google searches
