While London took a heavy loss, other areas such as Chester to Liverpool
also had great losses.

One such case reported was the loss of nurse May Brandon at Great Barrow in 1940 or 63 year old Frank Ashcroft Brandon in the Bootle area in 1940.

The there were those areas in North Wales.

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Re: STAINES, James William & Hannah Maria Zelley

The couple in Essex are likely James Staines and Hannah Dennis
married in the Lambeth Region in 1880.

The Hannah Maria Zelley was likely born in 1851 or 1852 in the
Weymouth region of Dorset.  Her marriage to James William Staines was in
1878 in Hampshire.  In the 1861 Census in Dorset she was listed as Maria Zelley aged 9 years residing in Weymouth.  Not sure where her
James Willian Staines was born or where he was in 1861 or 1871.

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / STAINES, James William & Hannah Maria Zelley

In reviewing marriage records from different sources, I noticed
a marriage of one James William Staines and Hannah Maria Zelley
in1878 Farnham District at Aldershot Parish in Hampshire.

Hannah Maria is likely the daughter of William L. Zelley
(brother of Richard Zelley) all from the Weymouth region of Dorset.

I have little information on James William Staines, or
where they were in 1881 or 1891.  Any help would be appreciated.

In 1969, The Borderers became part of The Royal Regiment of Wales.
At their site you may wish to check out the "Remember Them" section
to submit a brief story about Sgt. MORGAN REES PRICE.

Of interest, the Borderers were noted for their role at Rorke's Drift.
For some interesting background you may wish to watch
the movie "Zulu" staring Michael Caine and Stanley Baker.

As we search through our family trees how often do we come across some previously unknown that was missing from a list.  In many cases they tend to be children that died young. :'( :'(

One that was found recently was Charles Vallance Baker
born in the Romney Marsh region of Kent in 1850.

There are countless stories of those lost.

It was December 27, 1940 on Oldhill Street
when 14 year old Howard David Billing
would never open another Christmas gift.
Also lost that day was his father Barnet Billing
listed as an air raid warden fir Oldhill street.

Some other teenagers lost on 1940 in the Hackney region
include 19 year old Peter Afford, 14 year old June Bennett.,
and 13 year old Alfred Wilkins.

Then there was 28 year old Dora Winifred Vallance. She was injured
at the Station Building but died at The Metropolitan Hospital.

Seniors also paid a heavy price.  One example is71 year old
Herbert Selley who died at the Hackney Hospital in 1941
and Annie & George Phillips of Rendlesham Road.
