Gavsmum, I sent you a private message. I think I've found the link between you and your match.

I'll send you a private message as we cannot discuss living people

Do you have the surname Ryder in your family?

Buckinghamshire / Re: Emma Bowler Chalfont St. Peter marriage 1882

Hi, I think this is one of those situations where you might have to bite the bullet and purchase the marriage certificate. Even knowing his dob possibly 5.6.1858 is not helping.

John

Thanks for the reply and checking for me.
As it's for a DNA match and I'm not sure if this is the link between us, I'll just have to leave it for now and maybe come back to it at some point in the future.

All the best
Andy

Did they go to Canada.

John

Yes, exactly.
I'm looking into them as part of my research into DNA matches.

Buckinghamshire / Emma Bowler Chalfont St. Peter marriage 1882
« on: Monday 08 August 22 14:59 BST (UK)  »
Emma Bowler (born 1856 in Seer Green or Chalfont St. Peter) married John Green in the March quarter of 1882 in Eton registration district.
I think John Green is probably the general labourer aged 22 born Oxfordshire in the 1881 census in Chalfont St. Peter.

I'm interested in digging deeper into John Green's background and would love to see if there is information about his father on the marriage certificate.
Does anyone have access to the Chalfont St. Peter records?

All the best and thanks for taking the time to read this
Andy :-)

Oxfordshire / Re: Alfred Johnson born circa 1820 Henley

Looking at the Henley parish records on Ancestry, no Alfred but there are other Johnson’s, nothing jumps out but if the death record was correct I wonder if he started life as Henry?

Henry Johnson   Baptism 29 Sep 1811   Henley on Thames, St Mary John Johnson & Martha Smith

Henry Johnson   Baptism 24 Dec 1815   Henley on Thames, St Mary Charles, a Shoemaker & Mary

Colin

Thanks, Colin. I'll take a look at these, especially the shoemaker one!

Of particular interest to me in the 1851 census, when they have the following servant with them:
Fanny Bradford (or Bradfield, it's hard to read), aged 43 born in Henly on Thames.

Not sure if it was just a heat induced typo, but to me Fanny's age looks like 13 on the 1851 census.  ;)

I think it's my eyes! I had another look and can see it's clearly 13 now!

Alfred does seem to be elusive, have you found a death record for him?

Colin

No, I can't seem to find one. Thanks for taking the time to read my long and confusing post!
