There was a section for recently used searches and topics, I can't find one now it's a nuisance. Also because I use an adblocker I have to consent to cookies every time I change page.

Occupation Interests / Re: French Polishers
« on: Sunday 08 May 22 14:23 BST (UK)  »
My great grandmother was a french polisher of wardrobe doors mainly, and her father was a cabinet maker. I read somewhere that it was another description for coffin maker. Coffins were polished too!!

My husband found a solution on Youtube, the Canon instructions were hopeless!

My bookmarks list has changed too, not a problem at the moment. Seems to have divided them into two parts and put recent ones at the top.

I had a quick look on Ancestry, (unable to put a snip) for the date 1726 it's George son of George, not John George.
I hope someone will sort that out for you better than I can!

The Common Room / Re: Is Ancestry *fair* ? And about backups
« on: Saturday 19 March 22 14:07 GMT (UK)  »
I don't store a tree anywhere except in my "dusty old tomes"! I love that expression!  I'm not very good at downloading etc. and so when my computer crashed  I lost the stored family photos and documents. I prefer to print everything I need. The back-up hard-drive failed also. My lovely grandaughter managed to retrieve some information plus I had some saved on sticks and cards, so I was glad I had printed most as well.
I do think that items you have paid for should still be available when the sub has expired.
It's a good job we're all different!

My parents married in 1940, because of restrictions she had a second-hand white moire taffetta dress, relations wore their army uniforms. Her wedding cake was a small one which was put under a cardboard "dummy"!
This lady looks very elegant in her outfit, it is very well fitted.

My husband has trigeminal neuralgia and Gabapentin. It doesn't take the pain completely. It must have been dreadful before these painkillers were discovered. I didn't know it could be a result of shingles so thanks Lola5 for the information.
