Interesting! Thanks for all the help on this topic, I think I can now safely rule out this being who I thought it was. Can anyone make a guess as to the age of the individual in the first photo? (i.e. the one taken from the side) I think he looks a little too old to be a son and he only had one brother who the family didn't know, but if I had an approximate age to work with I might be able to speculate a little more!

Thanks,

Henning

Unfortunately I can't seem to upload the files properly - but I have posted them on a separate site:

I found a photograph album a couple of years ago which contains a great number of family photographs, however many of them are not annotated which unfortunately means that I am having a job finding out who half the people are despite them probably being ancestors. Since the album was compiled in about 1918, there is no longer anyone surviving in the family who can tell me who they are. I found amongst them a picture which I thought looked rather like one I have of my Great-Great-Great-Grandfather (Joseph Jones 1861-1926) and I was wondering whether anyone might be able to help confirm they are the same people as I don't tend to have a good eye for these things!

Just to clarify - the one which has been coloured is the one I know to be my ancestor and the other is the one from the album.

Thanks in advance,

Henning

An interesting idea - and I can see why you say that now I look closer. She had her second child (my Great-Great-Aunt) on the 1st April 1926, so this would tie in Jim's comment:
1920's & probably early-mid decade.
Could be any occasion but possibly an anniversary.
suggesting that it was taken in the latter half of 1925.

Thanks!

I found this photograph of my Great-Great-Grandparents about 18 months ago and I was wondering whether anyone might be able to help me to identify a date and possibly an occasion on which it was taken. These ancestors had a "shotgun" wedding in late 1909 at which point my Great-Great-Grandmother (Annie-Evelyn Jones) was aged only 19 and my Great-Great-Grandfather (James Lloyd) 20. In my opinion, they don't look that age in this photograph and so I have ruled it out as a wedding portrait unless anyone thinks different.

Any help with this would be much appreciated!

World War One / Finding Liverpool Regiment Records
« on: Saturday 16 May 15 17:26 BST (UK)  »
I recently unearthed a rather interesting Army Discharge Record on findmypast for my Greatx3 Uncle who came from the Welsh village of Brymbo. It seems he served with the Liverpool Regiment until 1916 when poor health lead to his discharge. Since I have now managed to find out the name of the regiment with which he served and also his regiment number, I was hoping to find out a little more about him. Until recently I had not known of the reasons leading to his discharge and when I discovered that one factor was the loss of one of his eyes it made more sense as to why he might have been hit by a motorbike during the second world war (of course, having not see it coming). Ideally, I would like to know where the records of the Liverpool Regiment are now kept as I understand the regiment was dissolved in the 1950s.

Many thanks,

Denbighshire / Brass Band Composer from Wrexham
« on: Wednesday 01 April 15 15:44 BST (UK)  »
A couple of years ago I discovered that one of my distant cousins born in the 1860s was a brass band conductor and composer. This interested me especially as two of my main hobbies include brass bands and family history, so I am eager to find out more about his work. Samuel Lloyd was involved with bands around the Wrexham area which included Rhosrobin and Wrexham Volunteers and I also understand from various newspaper articles that he had works published with Messrs. Crane and Son of Wrexham. Among some of his works was a grand march entitled "The Eaglet". I would be very interested in finding out more about his works if possible and putting together more of a picture of his musical career. I am currently a member of the Yorkshire Imperial Band and I have come across several unpublished scores from the 19th century in our library which lead me to believe that these ones of Samuel Lloyd could have ended up with a local band.

Any help with this thread would be much appreciated as I would very much like to obtain photocopies of these scores if they are still in existence.

Thanks,

Henning

Whilst researching some of me East Yorkshire ancestors, I stumbled on a newspaper article which aroused my interests as it reported the death of my 4xGreat-Grandmother: Rebecca Armstrong (Nee Loft) in 1865. The circumstances of her death seemed quite horrific as the verdict was given as "accidental burning". This occurred whilst she was living at Routh's Hospital in Beverley.

As I know for certain that an inquest was held on this matter, I am curious to know where such documents might have ended up and whether it would be possible to source them now so that I have a clearer idea on the circumstances surrounding her death.

Any help on this matter would be much appreciated!
