Thanks Geoff

I didn't have a death for John Nicholls Ashwood so that solves that mystery...I did note that Susanna Bartlett Ashwood married Henry Rider in Sierra Leone 1861 & had 5 children & then married Charles Endicott in Massacusetts USA in 1878 & had another child. I don't have a death for Henry Rider or Susanna or any of the Ashwood children for that matter.

I do have a note from the British Newspaper Archives that a John Ashwood died 18th Aug 1861 marked TBC

Hi Geoff

Sorry for the delay in replying...my P.C. containing all my Family history info was offline.
My connection to the Ashwood Family is very, very distant I'm afraid...Jenny Stephens FRANCE (Jane)who married John Nicholls ASHWOOD was the sister of my ancestor Susanna Bartlett FRANCE who married Charles ALDRICH...Susanna & Charles were my Great Great Great Grandparents

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Gibb/Atkins family Liverpool area
« on: Sunday 29 May 16 12:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone

I feel I am continually banging my head against a brick wall with this family, so sorry, but I'm going to give you all I Have...hoping someone more knowledgeable than me can help.
Hoping to find them in the 1861 census which has proved impossible.
John Gibb married Mary Woosey 16/6/1828 St Phillips Liverpool
Children:
John 1831 Liverpool..no birth or baptism record found
Mary 20/1/1833 Liverpool
Jane 1835 Liverpool..no birth or Bapt record
Eliza 12/10/1837 Liverpool
James Bezaleel 29/7/1839 Liverpool

John Gibb dies 9/4/1840 Liverpool
Mary remarries Hugh Atkin/Atkins/Aitkin 1841 Liverpool
Children:
Robert Apr/jun 1842 Liverpool
Hugh 1844-1847 Liverpool
Thomas Apr/Jun 1847 Liverpool
Sarah Apr/Jun 1849 Liverpool

1841 Census HO107/555/13 Folio 18
Plumbe St, Liverpool
Mary Gibb, 30 yrs, Shopkeeper
Mary Gibb, 8 yrs
Jane Gibb, 6 yrs
Eliza Gibb, 3 yrs
James Gibb, 2 yrs
Catherine Jones, 15 yrs, F.S. all born in County

The 1851 census which I have just accidentally deleted names Mary's new family
Husband Hugh Atkin
children Robert, Thomas & Sarah Atkins as well as sons John & James Gibb.
I cannot find them in the 1861 cenus...by this time husband Hugh Atkins is dead.
Son John Gibb & Daughter Mary Gibb have emigrated to Australia.
I believe Daughter Jane Gibb has married John Bowker as all info seems to fit but then she disappears.
John Gibb sponsors the assisted immigration of Sister Eliza Gibb, mother Mary Atkins & sister Sarah Atkins but only Eliza emigrates to Australia.
Mary Atkins dies in West Derby 13/12/1870, Sarah's wherabouts are unknown
The fact that John Gibb only sponsors his mother & half sister Sarah suggests that Robert & Thomas Atkins have also died...the 1861 census could shed some light but I can find nothing...except for the emigrations to Australia the family seem to stay in the Liverpool area or at the very least Lancashire.

To much info I know, I apologise, but frustrated I am, I will be extremely grateful for any info

Somerset Lookup Requests / baptism - St John The Baptist, Frome
« on: Sunday 27 March 16 08:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone

I am looking for the baptism record of Joseph Hillard...census records & age at death give his date of birth at mid to late 1811...1851 census gives place of birth as Shepton Beauchamp, but I've been unable to find any record of his baptism there...I have his parents recorded as John Hillard & Martha Symonds who married in Crewkerne in Dec 1810.

Joseph married in Crewkerne in 1834 but all 8 of his children were born in Shepton Beauchamp & Joseph died there in 1853.

I know this is a long shot but found a baptism for a Joseph "Allard" on freereg 17/8/1811 in St John the Baptist Frome father Joseph, Mother Martha & can't help but wonder if this could be him.
If anyone out there has access to the actual parish record could they please check the spelling in case this has been an error in transcribing

                               I would be most appreciative

Essex Lookup Requests / Re: Pr Sheering/Matching
« on: Friday 23 October 15 00:35 BST (UK)  »
Thanks Amondg

I don't have access to Ancestry atm something I am about to change...I have seen this list of wills & it is the Lease & release of property Document that has me focused on my Ballett/Spranger line again.

I had recorded that Susanna Ballett nee Spranger had remarried William Marriot & ended up in Stowmarket Suffolk where her daughter Elizabeth had married John Aldrich (which is my line) & have been concentrating on this area-
Event- Marriage, Hatfield Broadoak, 1691, William Marriot, Male, Susanna Ballett, "Widowed"

This property doc names Susanna Marriot as the daughter of Susanna Ballett so on further investigation have found this marriage record-
William Marriot of Little Canfield, Clerk, Bachelor, 27, Susanna Ballett of Hatfield Broadoak, otp, "Spinster, 20" Her Parents dead, with consent of Mr John Ballett, of same, her brother at Matching Co. Essex
This has thrown things into a bit of a spin having not viewed the marriage document I have to assume that unless both mother & daughter married Marriot men in the same year that obviously it is the younger who married William Marriot.

I know Mary Ballet married John Sayer, Elizabeth Ballett married John Aldrich & now Susanna married William Marriot
Also that Susanna Ballett Snr was dead by 1691

There also is a few court cases involving the Sprangers & Balletts...one of which seems to be by Richard Spranger on behalf of his Grandson Spranger Ballett with regards to Josiah Sprangers will.

So back to looking for the Death/Burial of Susanna Ballett , did she or for that matter William Ballett leave a will??

Sorry I'm rambling Thanks again for your help

Hi everyone

Researching the Ballett Family of Hatfield Broadoak.

William Ballett had a son from his 1st marriage John Ballett bapt 9/1/1665 Matching

He then married Susanna Spranger of Harlow, Essex 18/4/1665 in St Dunstan in the East, London

William & Susanna had 4 children -

Mary Ballett

Susanna Ballett bapt 14/5/1672 Sheering

Spranger Ballett bapt 18/6/1673 Sheering

Elizabeth Ballett bapt 2/12/1674 St Mary the Virgin Sheering

Although Elizabeth is my direct ancestor as you can see Mary Ballett's details have eluded me I have also been unable to find the burial records for Susanna... William was buried in St Mary the Virgin 24/6/ 1676...I know only that Susanna died before 1691 as this is recorded on her daughters marriage record

I would appreciate any help

Thanks Heywood

Yes these are some of Mary's siblings & Bazaleel Woosey & Jane Brown were her parents.

John Gibb died in 1840 at the home of his widowed mother in law Jane Woosey & Mary remarried a Hugh Atkin/Atkins & had a few more children
