Australia / Conditional Purchase Index lookup please
« on: Tuesday 28 February 23 18:09 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Would anyone be able to do a lookup in the Conditional Purchase 1862-1865 index please?  They are on microfiche (maybe CD too) and my local & family history libraries do not have a copy.  I am looking for any reference to Francis Alexander and John Milligan and land in the county of Camden.

Many thanks

Many thanks.  Ancestry did have Isaack but I just couldn't see it.  Thanks for your time and comments.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Checking transcript please

Hi
Attached is part of a parish register for Cam in Gloucestershire.  I would just like to check the Ancestry.com transcript.  It is the 3rd entry for November and starts Joseph ye son of ........ Bendall.  Could anyone tell me his father's name please.
Thanks.

A couple of days ago, I unlinked my husband's tree to his DNA and then linked it to a new tree which included the ancestor's name which wouldn't show up on Thrulines with the old tree.  This ancestor's name now shows on Thrulines and he now has one new match to someone who is also descended from this ancestor.  This is great as it's further proof, along with matches on other DNA sites, that I have the correct ancestor.
That's all I was trying to do.

It's because I'm on of a bit of a fishing expedition.  I want the names I have added to my husband's tree, one of them months ago, to show up on Thrulines to see who it might drag in.  Instead I get these two potential ancestors named Victoria E K Windsor born at Windsor Castle Dorset and King William Albert Archdale born in Wales!  My husband's family are Northern Irish.

Can you see why I am so annoyed by this?  Ancestry haven't added the ancestor's names I added to his tree months ago to ThruLines.  I will try contacting Ancestry again.

In the video link I sent, the lady from Ancestry suggested messaging the person/people with the incorrect information and informing them of their error (in a nice way).  Do this twice and if that didn't work she suggested leaving a nicely worded comment in the Notes section of the incorrect person on their tree.  I just don't have time to message everyone who has the wrong information on their trees.

Doesn't help with getting rid of the wrong potential ancestor in ThruLines either.

I've received a very nice reply from Ancestry via a pm on Facebook.  They say there is "currently no automated way to delete or remove potential ancestors within ThruLines that are incorrect".  They suggest "reaching out to those who own trees where this information is being pulled from, to let them know of the error in their tree".
They also suggest this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiWTx9doYvw&t=4s from "Crista Cowan, on how they handle mistakes in trees".

Hope this might be helpful to someone.

Not having much luck with Ancestry.  I tried the support link at the bottom of the home page and sent a message and was directed to https://support.ancestry.com.au/s/article/AncestryDNA-ThruLines
which didn't answer my query.  Tried again with different wording and again directed to same page.  Facebook pages seem to be chat only so no help there.

I have found a phone number for the Australian Ancestry company so will try that on Monday.  If I find out how to delete these pesky potential ancestors, I will post it here but it's not looking good so far.

The suggested ancestors are not in my tree, they are in ThruLines but they are stopping the ancestors I add to my tree from appearing in ThruLines.

I might email Ancestry and ask them if these suggested/potential ancestors can be removed.  Good to know others have tried to remove them and failed.
