Armed Forces Resources / non-commissioned officer of the Rifles

Hello,

I recently came across a short article newspaper article (archives) about my great great grandfather Mathias/Matthew Rickard (1808 - 1894) in which it states that he was appointed to a new job after qualified as a non-commissioned officer of the Rifles.  This article was published by the Limerick Chronicle in 1842 in Ireland.  My question is what army would he have served in and any idea of the resources I could look up.  Thank you very much.  Deirdre

Hi Ev,

Got that census form thanks to one of your colleagues (1911 - Cork).
She signed it as Jeanie Fitzgerald.
Thanks,
Deirdre

Hi,
Looking for a Sheila Fitzgerald (born 1910-11) in Cork to Richard Fitzgerald and Jeanie Stewart.
Richard was from Lisbealad in Cork and Jeanie Stewart was Scottish.
They moved to Glasgow before or in 1913 as Sheila's brother, Richie, died aged 5 in Glasgow in 1913.
The third sibling, Jeanie, reported her father's death in 1942 in Glasgow.  She was also born in Cork in 1909-1910.  Have no idea of what became of her either.  Any hints??
Thanks, Deirdre
P.S. - Have tried Scotlands people website for the two bonnie lassies but nothing comes up.  Maybe they emigrated?? ???

Norfolk / Richard Grace born Lettergorman, Dunmanway, Cork

Hello,
Looking for a trace of my granduncle, born Lettrergorman, Dunmanway, County Cork in 1894.  His parents were David Grace and Ellen Fitzgerald.  The story goes that he became a teacher and moved to East Anglia in England to teach.  That's all I have - no town. Don't know if he married or settled back in Ireland...
