Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Re: Leamington death
« on: Thursday 24 May 07 02:30 BST (UK)  »
There seem to be two graveyards that cover the Lemington area: that were in working order in the time frame you mentioned

Lemington Spa Cemetery Brunswick Road  opened 1868

Milverton Cemetery Old Milverton Road, Lemington Spa  opened 1881

records for the above graveyards are held at:-

 Mid Warwickshire Crematorium,
Oakley Wood
Bishops Tachbrook
Lemington Spa
CV33 9QP

Telephone:  01926 651148

It may be worth your while getting in touch there and seeking their advice as to where your relative is buried

Hope that this helps a little

Best wishes

Hello Bishopsb,

Welcome to Rootschat:

I will be going into the GRO on next Monday 28th and will look for your missing reles...

IM me with what details you have so I can short list them

Birth Certs show name, dob, place of birth, fathers name Fathers occupation etc.

If they were all born in the Cloyne area and stayed then they should appear on the 1901 census Katherine would be aged 23.

If the parents married just prior to Katherines birth then their marriage certificate will give their respective fathers names, and occupations.

Wolfe Tone Street
Wolfe Tone Street on the Barrack Hill was named in 1922 after Theobald Wolfe Tone.
The Barrack Hill was the location of the Military Barracks and in Pigots Directory 1824 was described as thus “on a dirty hill, adjoining the town, is an old and illlooking barrack in which two companies of infantry are generally stationed.
The earliest document relating to the acquisition of the site of Cavan Military Barracks in the possession of the Office of Public Works, is a Conveyance dated May 5 1710. The site referred to therein was presumably that located at Barrack Hill. Lewis Topographical Directory of Ireland 1837 described the barracks as “infantry barracks capable of accommodating 6 officers and 130 non-commissioned officers and privates.
According to Griffiths Valuation of Ireland 1857, the Board of Ordnance was then the lessor of infantry barracks and yard situated at Barrack Hill in the town of Cavan
