As you have a date of time of service you can look up John's police record on the Met Police site, this unfortunately has been gobbled up by Ancestry.co.uk, a few about a year ago it was a free site. If any of you family were 'bargemen', this usually meant they were either Watermen or Lightermen, in which case look up the Watermans Guild, you will find your relatives as the Guild has a complete record of all guildmen and apprentices since inaugeration.  I have found several of my family on this site

'Cuse me, there is a catholic All Saints Church in Newby Street Tower Hamlets, my cousin was married there, but it is a modern church and I am not sure if it replaced an earlier building. Also if a catholic was marrying a person of another faith, usually, but not always, the marriage took place in the catholic church and a blessing in the other church

Nottingham Census 1841, Smalleys Yard, Beck Street Can anyone please look up this census record to see if William Knight and his wife Racheal are listed, their son Jabez is listed at this address as John in the 1851 Census. Many Thanks Paul
