Hi

I know I'm not very technical, but am I being daft or is the following just not possible (if so then  :P to FTM).

I would like to print an 'all in one' tree for my 2nd cousin.  Now I don't actually want a full 'all in 1', as much as she loves him I don't imagine she would want to have my hubby's family on it.

I have tried various ways, but is the only way REALLY to list all her rellies??  Is there no way I can start from her mum and get it to just print from there?  I know how to do her direct ancestors, but I would like to give her all the stuff I have on siblings etc.  (I was thinking of getting it framed and give it her as a present.)

So am I as technically useless as I think, or is it just not possible?

Grateful for any ideas.

Hi

John Webb born 8/11/1870 Father Richard Webb Mother Elizabeth Kibble.

My great grandad was John Webb born 1870c, father Richard.  So I was really pleased when this arrived...except it's not 'my' John.

Regrettably this poor John passed away either the same quarter or the next one, but it might be useful (or just fill a gap) for someone researching this family.

Regards

Oh, I'm definately getting some certs...the marriage one first off then John's.  I just can't see how it can't be them...but I am prepared to be disappointed  :-\ ...the point is this is not only a solid gold lead it is the ONLY lead I have ever really had with this family.  And however, it turns out I'm pleased as punch.  Will pm you once I get the cert if you like?  :)

Osprey  :-*

I can't believe it...you are brilliant...no seriously, that is the BEST news I could have hoped for and it solves so many problems.  I can't believe you found John...no wonder I couldn't find him ~ oh Maria you naughty girl (mind you she fared better than hubby's great grandma - she ended up in the workhouse poor thing).  I'm just off to gaze lovingly at the census image.

Thank you so much.  I've been hitting my head on and off against this brick wall since I started my research.  Well, it's my birthday this week so that's one marvellous present and I now know what my mam can buy me for my birthday...her almost certain great grandparents marriage cert.   I really think I'm going to cry.

Excuse me...I get a bit carried away at times, but I've said so many times I love this site and the wonderful people on here.  Even whilst I've been ill I've tried to remember to tell everyone I speak to about it (well the ones that are researching their family history anyway...others might think I was a bit strange if I started to waffle on.)

Now I am on the road to recovery I really hope I can start repaying the favours.

Love

Julie

Well hello there Arranroots...what do you mean only me?  ;D

Sorry about lack of info, but it has ben a while so I'm a bit out of practice!

Well, just to let you know I've gone through every single page of Pontypool town and they ain't there...sigh!  :(

So I'm going to throw another line out about the same family, because now I'm really confused and could do with some clearer heads...bear with me, this gets a bit confusing.

First the known facts;

My great grandparents were Elizabeth Wlliams and John Webb.  They married in 1889 in Pontypool.  (Her family is an open book - so no probs there.)

The marriage cert gives John's age as 20, which gives a DOB of around 1869.  On the 91 and 01 census and his death cert his DOB is 1870, so all okayish there.  The marriage cert gives his father's name as Richard Webb - collier.  The 91 and 01 census give John's place of birth as Glos - West Dean/Coleford area.

Now the only family this fits in with in 1881 is the one Arranroots has kindly noted.  (This is also supported by his eldest daughter being named Maria - I know it's thin, but at this point....)

Despite what the census says I can find NO trace of a marriage between Richard and Maria before 81.

What got me excited was an entry in the Trevethin parish records for the christening of a Rhoda Webb in 1885, parents Richard and Maria!  Now Rhoda died in 1886, so still stuck for 1891.  However, after my last post I did find an entry in Pontypridd which looks promising.

RG12 Piece 4425 Folio 65 Page 3
There is a Richard Webb aged 38 collier widower born Moseley Green (which is I believe West Dean?)
His daughter Elizabeth Jane aged 8 born Pontypool
His father Richard aged 66 born Berry Hill (Coleford area)
and Richard Senior's wife Jane aged 70 born Yorkley (again I think that's West Dean?)

I believe Jane is Richard senior's second wife (possible contender is a Jane Morse - previously married to Charles  ::) )  If this is all correct then that's brilliant because it all fits in with the family I had already tenuously assigned to John's father.  Added to which, there is a possible death for Maria in 1889 (although that's in Westbury so might not be connected at all.)

So what's the problem...just get Elizabeth's birth certificate (Elizabeth was Richard jnr's mother's name btw - again not very strong evidence just another link.)

My problem is that in 1884 a Richard Webb marries a Maria Howells in Pontypool  :o  OK - that could still be 'my' Richard making an honest woman of Maria at last.  Sooo just say I get the birth cert and it gives parents as Richard and Maria ne Howells...how can I be certain that they are my pair?

I am really sorry about this post - I know it's confused, but so are my thought processes at the mo.  Been out of the game for so long and I could really do with some clear thinking.  Anyone got any ideas??

Thanks for listening

Monmouthshire / 91 - Webb ~ Trevethin - COMPLETED ~ Thank you!
« on: Friday 21 March 08 12:40 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone

This is terrible.  Am absent for over a year then start by asking a favour! :-*

I really hope someone can help as I'm tearing my hair out with this one.  I have reason to believe, from parish records, that my ancestors Richard and Maria Webb were living at Canal Bank Pontypool in 1885.  They were originally from West Dean area of Glos and I have them in 1881.  My great grandfather (their son) is there in 1891 with his wife Elizabeth and their son William, and in 1901 with several other children (from memory - West Street I think).

Well I have tried every combination of name and age but found no trace of them in 91 or 1901.  I think I have Maria passing away in 1907 (aged 62) and I think I have Richard on earlier census, but after 81 it is very scant.  I am just hoping that they have been somehow mistranscribed and that someone has a cd or something that has better coverage - or simply are more adept at searching than I am  ;D.

I have a speculative date of birth for Maria as 1855 and 1854 for Richard based purely on the 81 census.  Both state West Dean as their place of birth and John also mentions Coleford on later census.

This is the only part of my family that I haven't been able to get past my great grandparent...and believe me I have tried.  I would really appreciate any help.

Thanks and regards in advance.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: DNA Testing?
« on: Tuesday 19 February 08 10:57 GMT (UK)  »
I've been thinking of doing the test via Ancestry, but I've read about cases where the rights to the DNA then belong to the company doing the test.  I can't find anything about who will own the DNA once the test is done in this scenario  :o...now I have no paranoia (spl?) of someone creating clones of me...(if they can come and do my housework then good luck to them...I'll have two please  ;D) but it makes me feel...I don't know...'funny' (I think that's the technical word for it) that someone else could own the rights to MY dna.

Anyone have any clue or has my recent ill health turned my brain even more to mush than I had thought?  ???

I am just trawling through all the 'Stiff' births on the Ancestry BMD when I came across this inthe Sep quarter 1861;  ???

STIFF Amy Seckett Blean 2a 560
         Amy Seekett Blean 2a 560
         Amy Sukett Blean 2a 560

Don't think there is likely to be any connection to my family so I am only mildly curious, but is this usual?  I can see that there was obviously some confusion with the second name, but is it normal to list all the possible variations?  Or is a set of oddly named triplets?  ;D
