London and Middlesex / Re: Ann Dorman in Lambeth

Thanks so much for trying to find her  - she must be hiding there somewhere as I have her death certificate so I am sure of the date and place of death. I seem to have tried every variation in spelling but there must be one that I have't thought of! Thanks again  :)

London and Middlesex / Ann Dorman in Lambeth
« on: Sunday 28 October 12 05:45 GMT (UK)  »
Ann Dorman died on 13th April 1843 at 2 Crosier St North, Lambeth, aged 34. Present at her death was Elizabeth Lewis (I don't know if she was a relative). Ann was a widow as her husband, William, a slate polisher, had died in 1839 at Red Cross St, St Saviour Southwark. I cannot find Ann on the 1841 census and I am wondering if she might have been in the workhouse. Her son, John Shadrack Dorman (born in 1830 in Southwark) was working as a servant boy (name spelt Dormer).

Can anyone help me to find Ann Dorman in the 1841 census? Thanks

Thank you so much, Valda. I haven't been able to find that baptismal record on Ancestry, Findmypast or Familysearch! Do you know how I can view the Parish Record?

That census record makes a lot of sense now!

I am descended from John Shadrack Dorman - we have the same problem as you with James & Robert i.e. we can't find a baptism or a record of him in the 1841 (or 1851) census in Southwark (he says on his daughter's birth certificate that he was born there and was a butcher). He came out here to Australia about 1856 but "disappeared" from the records about 1860. Obviously James and Robert and related to John Shardack - have you any clues yet?

How great to receive your reply so quickly. Thank you. Mary Ann nee Lampard was my GGG grandmother - I am descended from her daughter Mary Ann. I would love to chat more with you about this  - I have quite a bit of information about Mary Ann (jnr) and her 3 children Annie (my GG grandmother) Mary & Walter. Several descendants of her children are researching our family history and would love to know more about them - life in England and Australia and also to solve a couple of family mysteries.

I look  forward to hearing from you (I hope)

Thrilling to see mention of my ancestor William Rane Duker. I am descended from one of his daughters in Australia. Can you tell me which sister wrote the letters to England from Australia about the death of brother George Duker?

Thanks
