Denbighshire / Re: Sheldons 1911 census query
« on: Wednesday 24 October 12 23:49 BST (UK)  »
Thanks, the finer details don't quite match, he is a lead miner in one and a coal miner in the other and if memory serves me correctly there is an age gap of 1 year too.
I wish my ancestors had been aristocrats as then I might have better information haha

Denbighshire / Sheldons 1911 census query
« on: Wednesday 24 October 12 23:18 BST (UK)  »
Please help me, I am so confused now haha

One of my ancestors is William B Sheldon born about 1886/7 to John and Charlotte and born in the district of Llanarmon-Yn-Ial but in the village of Eryrys.

One of his sisters is called Sarah E Sheldon (although on the first census she appears in her surname is listed as Jones even though the rest of the family are Sheldon, but that may be another query although it may help her)

My confusion is following William, he lives with his family in Eryrys in the 1891 and 1901 census in Eryrys (Llanarmon-Yn-Ial district)
However in the 1911 census for Eryrys he is still living with his parent in Eryrys.
But...... in 1911 there is a William Brindley Sheldon on the census living in Bagillt with his sister and her husband. His sister in this census is Sarah Ellen Williams and both are listed as being born in Llanarmon district.

Is this the same man? Is it possible the census were taken on different days????? How on earth do I find out from this?
I am guessing if someone has access to the parish records they could confirm the 'B' in his middle name is Brindley although from memory these two were the only children in the census that had middle names which I'm not sure if thats odd or not.

I do hope someone can help me, although he is a brother to my Great grandfather so not directly linked but I am enjoying researching this part of my family as I am in the Eryrys area myself so can relate to a lot of places etc

Denbighshire / Sheldon Eryrys Look up please **Completed**
« on: Wednesday 26 September 12 23:53 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I am a newbie so I apologise if I am doing this wrong :)

I have found my G G G grandfather born in Eryrys, Denbighshire (civil parish Llanarmon-yn-Ial) his name is John Sheldon born about 1821

However I have found a man called Thomas Sheldon born about 1780 who lived in Eryrys a few doors away from John and his family.  I am trying to find out if there is a link between the two, I could guess at him being his father but he could just as easily be an uncle. I believe Thomas Sheldon died aged about 94.

I don't seem to be able to find any census for the area in 1841 and wondered how else I could find out if/how these two are linked

Thanks

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Sun Inn where Denbigh ?
« on: Wednesday 26 September 12 23:38 BST (UK)  »
Yep I live in Eryrys and this is The Sun Inn, Eryrys.  A copy of this photo is in the pub too, although I don't think they have it displayed.

I am a beginner and have found I can go back to my GGG grandfather living in this village and possibly a GGGG grandfather too :)

If you need anything from here let me know :) ie photos or photos of gravestones as my GG grandparents are in there.  The church closed years ago but I am quite good or know people who have good local knowledge :)

I realise this is an old post but I just joined and the Head Benjamin Brakewell is my great great grandfather :)

My only query on this, if its not too late to ask is the the Census from 1911, 1901 and 1891 all say he was born in Redditch, Worcestershire and yet I have seen this Quarry Bank, Staffs on other details and wasn't sure if it was the same person.  Are the two close enough or is this an error??

I have literally just joined, so I apologise if this isn't the right place to pose this question
