I am desperate to get on and check these out to see if I can dig up any info about someone about whom I know nothing, but am constantly getting Runtime error.  I've cleared my cache, tried a different browser and still I cannot get in.  Is it just me?!!!!

Wow, just wow.  My aunt recently loaned me a video.  Today I have had the chance to view it.  It is family weddings from 1932 to 1974.  On the earlier shots (1 in 1932, 2 in 1933 and 1 in 1934) there are definitely shots of my g grandparents, and possibly some gg aunts and uncles.  I think there is possibly also a ggg aunt! Talk about blown away.

Some of the earlier film is pretty dire though.

Now I need to get this video onto dvd.  It has been transferred from cinefilm to video, but the original is lost.  The best I have is this video.  THe original owner (and film taker) is now dead.  I have permission from his executors to do as is necessary.

Can anyone suggest the best way to get it onto dvd?  I know high street shops do this, but is there a better way?

Is there anyone who can recommend someone who can digitally remaster?

This video is the ONLY copy, it has been entrusted to my hands and I am loathe to let it go to just anyone unless I am convinced of their care and respect for what is (at least to me) a stunning and valuable piece of family history.

I got very very excited because this came up under a family name, but it looks like ancestry have only transcribed the mother but I would still like to know what it says, please.

My wall isnt brick, it's 8 foot thick limestone!

I've traced a direct line back to Wakerley in Northamptonshire in 1693.  There the trail goes completely cold.  I am fairly certain the family did not come from Northants as they a) do not appear in any parish registers and b) are not on the hearth tax returns and I imagine they would have been relatively wealthy judging from the marriages made (first person mentioned married someone of relative wealth and I infer from what I have found in outdated books, a minor heiress).  I've read every Will I could get my hands on - from the family and connected families and not a clue.  I've checked every hearth tax return I can find and nothing.  I've have spent whole days googling and reading books out of print.

Can anyone suggest what other records might help?  I've spent a couple of days at Northants record office and got nothing so I am running out of ideas.

Mr BM's grannie (Ruby) and grandad (Frank) were married in 1920.  Apparently in 1930 when hubby was away, Grannie was unfaithful and Mr BM's mum was the result.  Frank then leaves her.  However in 1931 he is arrested in Southampton and return to Glasgow where he appeared before the Sheriff Court charged with desertion.  He was fined £5 but no maintenance was ordered.  The couple didnt divorce until 1945 and Ruby went on to have two further children (presumably not with Frank).

How common was this?  Would Ruby have had to make a complaint about his desertion?  Isnt that a bit flaming cheeky given she had a child by another man?  (There is some dispute about the parentage of this child, the child was told that Frank was her father; her birth certificate says something quite different).  Would there be a record of the Court case anywhere?  Can anyone add anything?  Unfortunately, it appears we will never really know who Mr BM's real grandad was (everyone who might have a clue is now dead).

Pinefamily - No!  I haven't seen the naturalisation record yet.  I cant wait to get down there and have a proper look.

I went through every single wretched record on ancestry yesterday on the electoral rolls from about 1936 to 1965.  One name cropped up a couple of times (Tors) so I did a few searches with that with what I already knew.  One thing led to another and eventually I made the connection.  The number of coincidences made me think it was the same person, then I found a pic which I could compare to one I had (by this point I was 98% certain) , then I found the death entry which gave the same date of birth.  I was skipping round  the house like an idiot singing "I found Frank"!

Sorry to resurrect an old post, but I have broken down the brick wall today and thought those interested originally might like to know the outcome.

Frank changed his name to Jan Tors and appeared on the TV and on the stage thru the 50s and 60s.  I have just discovered he died in 1966 in New York. 

I'd love to find out more about him - ie a Will, grave etc, but I am pleased that at last I found him.  I have had the great privilege today to show my OH videos of the grandad he never knew performing.   :D :'(

As others have said above, this is simply the fact that National Provincial were appointed as executors and have extracted the Grant of Probate.  NP were only the executors.
