Anglesey Lookup Requests / Davies/ Reilly 1881
« on: Saturday 16 April 11 14:18 BST (UK)  »
Well after a long rest I am back to the grindstone of looking for my husbands lost ancestors.    I have a marriage of Mary Reilly( there have been a few different spellings) and a William Davies (March) 1881 in  Holyhead Anglesey. This was my husbands great nan and grandad, I have lots of info on them and Marys family past down in notes from hubby's mum from over 30 years ago. I have had no joy trying to trace any futher back on Williams side though, so would be grateful if anyone may be able to find his fathers name out for me ;D I know it will probably be an impossible task as there are so many Davies's in Holyhead :-\

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Bohannan/Gleave
« on: Friday 08 October 10 19:19 BST (UK)  »
Thanks ;D I am going blind to the name Bohannan! In the past 2 days I have gone through and written down all of them I could find online in the Liverpool  census..........1841 to1881. I have Catherine in 1841 age 30 b1811, but the only James is 8 years old.
There is a Catherine in 1851(spelt Bohan) but her age is only 27 b 1824 no James at all. In 1861 Catherine b 1811 is back, but no James or Martha :'(  Next step maybe missing persons!! ;D

Yes I know, I think I gave up on all my family trees after trying to go back any futher with this side 5 years ago  ::) It started to seem immpossible especially after I had managed to trace parts of my dads family back (Smiths) to the late 1600's!
Anyway Martha's father was named as James on her marriage certificate so I am definatly looking for a marriage between James Bohannan and Catherine Gleave prior to 1848 and Martha's birth.
They seemed to have dissapeared in 1851, but then again the connotations of the name Bohannan are endless.
I have a copy of 1861 census with Martha Bohannan age 14 but the enumerator has made such a mess of the transcription you can't tell who it is that is the head of household...........could have been Catherine widow or James widower as for the age it may be 51 or 37  >:(  That was at Prince Edwin Terrace York Street Everton.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Bohannan/Gleave

Well after 5 years I am back to searching for my Bohannans!  I have finally got the birth cert for my great gran Martha Bohannan, B 14th August 1848 at what looks like 14 Cuerdon Street Liverpool.  On it her mothers name is Catherine formerly Gleave and her father James.   By the 19th September when her mother registered her birth the residence was given as 3 Lower Thurlow Street, Liverpool.
I wonder if any one may be able to find this family in the 1851 census?

Or if anyone may be able to come across a marriage between James Bohannan (who was a shoemaker on the birth cert) and Catherine Gleave.

I have Martha's  marriage cert from 1866 and she was married at St Peters in Liverpool.

Worcestershire / Millership, Melchip or connotations Elmbridge/Droitwich
« on: Monday 24 November 08 20:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All
After a long absence I am hoping to get back and try a bit more tree research.
I would like to try and get back a little futher with the name Millership(Melchip)
My husbands tree has so far got back to Thomas Millership?b 1818 who married Elizabeth. I think Elizabeth died in Droitwich in 1872, they seemed to have had 12 children (Melchip). Thomas's mother may have been a Sarah.
Can anyone find any more info on this family for me as I know the Millership name does go back a lot futher.
Many Thanks
Pat

With My Deepest Sympathy to all of Peter's family :'(
I have not been on the boards recently and the news came as a shock.
I like many others found Peter was always there to give tips and advice. He will be sorely missed.

One Name Studies: T to Z / Re: YATES
« on: Sunday 04 November 07 14:48 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
Thanks for the replies, sorry but I haven't been doing much on here lately had a round of decorating etc.
David, in the next couple of weeks when I can find everything  ;D I hope to start looking at the family tree again, really not so sure were the Yates I am looking for originated from.
My ex mum in law died some weeks ago (she was the Yates by marriage) so the daughter (apart from double barreling her surname to Bagley-Yates ???) has not done any more looking into her Yates bit of the tree as there has been a bit of strife in the family after her Nan's death.
Hopefully when things have calmed down she may take an interest again and I shall be back with some more info.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Thomas Creer 1841
« on: Monday 01 October 07 21:32 BST (UK)  »
Thanks again Mo, wonder if he could have been a Green  ;D I think the problem is with them both being seamen they could quite possibly have been at sea during the 1841 census.

In 1847 (Gores directory) William and his wife plus a brood of children were living in a lodging house in New Brighton on The Wirral (across the water from Liverpool ) Cheshire. In 1864 they were in the same abode and William was classed as a Gentleman(so obviously he had given up his seafaring) In 1868 still at same address his occupation was a gardener. He died in 1868. It is quite strange how much I have found out about William and his family but have been unable to find almost anything out about Thomas, apart from his wife may have been called Mary and he was a seafarer ???

Thanks Mo
There is a one name survey going on with the Creer family, and the chap  who has loads of info on all the Creers can't place my Thomas even :'( They have done a DNA survey on the males still living of the Creer families now and they all seem to be able to be traced back to The Isle Of Man, possibly to one common ancestor dating between 1260 and 1409 ;D. I really would love to know were my Creers came from!
The one thing I did notice when I visited my local library a few years ago to start searching, the name had been put in the census index as Greer (1851 I think)  I suppose this is always a possibility that the name has always been Creer and mis spelt or it has been something else in the past and changed to Creer ???
Thanks anyway
Pat
