I decided to check on the bride's birth place in England & the name Coburn is quite clear but in fact should be Cobham - I think accents played a big part.

Many thanks for the ideas - the groom was Samuel Hunter born about 1857 - parents were John HUNTER (Farmer) & Margaret McCLURE.

My daughter has bought an 1890 marriage certificate & we can't work out where the groom was born - any ideas please.

Hi again,
The folk on the Great War Forum say that the badge is the Welsh Regiment - question,  both badges look the same with the wording being the only difference.  Is this correct.  ???

Many thanks for the information - as suggested I have also put the photo on the Great War Forum & will let you all know the outcome (if any) from that site.

His name was Thomas McLoughlin born 1900 Blackburn - just one of many.  He survived & I have tried National Records including Ancestry but I think he joined at the end of WW1 - he went on to join the RIC before coming to New Zealand in 1929.  I am hoping that if I find out what the Regiment was I might get more info on the correct guy.  I will put it up on the Military part.
Many thanks for replying.
Anita.
