Mary Ann was born in Shoreditch (1851 census, fairly specific). Having difficulty tracing her with William in1841 but first 3 children also born Holborn/ Shoreditch (baptism certificates, mother Mary Ann). By 1851 she is in Southwark with William & children. First born seems to be George Lewis, around 1830 (baptised March 1830). Problem is who did William marry?  A William Lawson married Mary Jeromes, in 1829, born 1807 Shoreditch (=Jerom) & 1851 census gives born c 1809.  But there is also a Mary Ann Huddard/t (who married William Lawson 1827) born Chertsey Surrey, 1809…..unless she is the Mary Ann Hubbard born Shoreditch 1806. I am drawn to Jeromes but hope some-one out there has info to confirm (or not)!!! Newbie – am giving too much info?

Context: this William Lawson was born in Glasgow but by 1841 was in London (Holborn), Middlesex and married to Mary Ann (but that’s a different quandary). 1851 census gives age 47.  Death was almost certainly in 1854 in St George Southwark. I know given ages can be somewhat unreliable but this would give birth as 1804. A trawl (on FamilySearch) from 1798 to 1810 gives only 2 Williams around that time frame: one, father William, baptised 1800, the other, father James, baptised 1802. Both mother Mary. I’ve tried all I can think of but am stuck. Any help would be most welcome. [Also posted on Scotland forum]
