no index unfortunately.  I received the image from the funeral home that is attached to the cemetery in Austria.  Unfortunately, the gravestone no longer exists to get a transcript or picture, the plot was sold in 1983 to a new family and the old headstones were not kept.

I am leaning toward the Hedwig or Ludwig theory, it could be either of those names very likely!

hmmm interesting that you would guess Hedwig, as there IS a Hedwig Schweighofer buried in the same cemetery, daughter of the above Johann Schweighofer, she died of tuberculosis in 1934 age 13 years, buried April 7, 1934.
But seeing as this interment  is 1942, it can't be the same Hedwig.  Maybe another daughter named after her?  Interesting.

Johann was born 1894, so age 47 at time of death, he was listed in other documents as a 'magazine worker'  He was survived by his Wife - Theresia (m.s. unknown) who eventually moved to Scotland and died in Fife in 1987.

hi Viktoria, sorry for the confusion over the attachment, the original was in PDF format, and I didn't realize that it wouldn't automatically be visible on the post.  So I did a quick jpeg capture and amended my post   :)

Yes, I'm sure the third name is for Joseph Laverty, even though it appears to read "Joan" , there are CWGC documents that note his burial in the same plot, and other funeral home papers that confirm as well.

Thanks for having a stab at it.  Deb

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Name help please Austrian document

In the middle column -
Namen de Beerdigten, the first burial is for Schweighofer, Johann, underneath him, it appears to be another Schweighofer, but I cannot make out the christian name - seems to end in *ving?
Burial date, 6/5/1942.  And the line underneath that name - "m' Culigts'  v 9/27?

Obviously not right, but my eyes just can't make sense of it.  Any help with this Austrian document would be very much appreciated

The 3rd burial on the page is Joseph Patrick Laverty, my great Uncle, a soldier, that married one of the daughters of Johann Schweighofer while stationed there.

Hi Aynn!  Lovely to meet you.  I have searched through my records, and unfortunately, I don't  have anything on your Mum Margaret born 1925.
Although, I am sure there must be a connection somewhere between all the Gallacher families in Duntocher, from what I understand, most of them hailed from Donegal originally, so it seems very likely, if only we could get back far enough in the Donegal records to prove it.

Are you on Facebook Aynn?  There is a large and very active Duntocher group  on there with tons of members, and lots of local knowledge on all things Duntocher.  You may want to swing by there and say hello, I would bet someone on there will remember your family.  Search for "Duntocher Past and Present" on FB.

All the best, Debbie
