Hi all, would be very grateful if you could help.   My Great Grandfather, Arthur William Sparham b. 1861 in Hackney married to Eleanor Elizabeth Sparham (his 1st cousin) b 1853 in Breewood, Staffs lived (in between the censuses) on the Isle of Man.   Their daughter, Mona was born 1886 in Oncham.  Is there any way of finding out where they lived and what Arthur's job was please.

Many thanks, Sparham

Hi brc.   As I was looking down at this list, Nathaniel Craske jumped out at me.   I don't have your Nathaniel in my tree but what I have may help :

NC born 1665 in Sheringham married to Rose (unknown)
Son of NC, William born 1689 in Sheringham married Sarah Hook had a son  -
Nathaniel born 1720, I do not have a place of birth but I bet it was Sheringham.  Nathaniel had a son also called Nathaniel b 1747 in Sheringham married to Rosamund Cutler.  He died in 1828, place of death unknown to me.  They had 2 sons Cutler and Thomas and the boys had many sisters.

This is the info I have, I hope it helps.

Thank you so much for all your helpful info.   Just to point out that the pic of the Blakeney Hotel is there because my 3 x Gt Grandfather, James Sparham owned it - could have been the ancestral pile lol.   Must must visit there.

Trish, checked Ada and Owen's marriage certificate, she is marked down as Ada Millicent Dorice, Widowed.    Her father is James William Blandon deceased, Commercial Traveller and I cannot find him.  Trouble is I don't know where he was born.  7 years I have been looking for her.

Suz.   Your help is greatly appreciated and your aunt sounds like fun.

Derek, likewise you have been so helpful and thank you so much.

Hi Nanny Jan, just looking through your names and I see you have a Catherine Wakeling.  I have many Wakelings in my tree (my 3x and 4x Great Grandfathers and way back to my 13th Gt Grandfather Robert) are Wakelings.  Mostly living in Suffolk or Essex.   Can I be of help?

Hi Suz   thank you so much for getting back to me with all the information.   However from Arthur Sparham down, these were the children of Ada and Arthur :

Elizabeth his first wife and first cousin had money and owned a fleet of cabs and horses.  Arthur worked as an Auctioneers Porter - he loved horses and rode 4 abreast along Southend Seafront.

They employed a servant, Ada Fellingham to look after the children.  Arthur and Ada fell in love.  When my Gt Uncle Arthur was born, Elizabeth asked Ada if she would pass him off as a soldier's child.   Ada did not do this.

Elizabeth died in 1910 of a double hiatus hernia and Arthur had Ada up the aisle within weeks of the death of Elizabeth.

Ada Millicent Victoria Blandon was my much beloved grandmother.   I can find no reference to her anywhere in 7 years of research.   I cannot find Mr Dorice anywhere - it is like she did not exist.   Family lore has it that her parents worked for Lord and Lady Blandford and he was Head Groom.   I have contacted Blenheim Palace but unfortunately they never kept names of servants only occupation.  My Grandmother was put in a convent when her parents died.   We think she was born in Sussex, I have tried all the local convents, to no avail.  She spoke with a cut glass accent (not passed down to me I may add).   I loved her very much but it is as if she never existed.  Perhaps she supplied a false name who knows.

Thank you so much for your help.   Any info on the Sparhams Probate would be of great help Suz.
