Antrim / Re: Need a wee help here...

hello!  have a MELLON-MAGEE connection in county down which possibly may interest you:

1826 bapt cert for JOHN SHIELDS, father DANIEL SHIELDS, mother MARGARET MAGEE, witnesses HENRY MAGEE and HANNAH MELLON, ballyleny, dromore, RC.

not really paying attention to specifics of post, mind is quite full right now, but noticed you looking in both antrim and down.  during my search for (i suspect in antrim) charlotte magee, abraham magee, and teresa magee, i saw a griffiths valuation listing for a family with a "sharlet" and "ephrim," as well as a family relative, 77 yo and also "ephrim", who was absent visiting relatives in county down.  this stayed in my mind as, though not yet confirmed, i am convinced that the bapt cert above is for my ggf JOHN SHEILS.  his wife was CAROLINE "CHARLOTTE" MAXWELL, dau to THOMAS MAXWELL and TERESA MAGEE.  feel these two families knew one another, which may be how my ggp met.  just  thought i'd pass it along.  best of luck!

thanks again loney, but not a single mcauley is related (from what i know to date).

isabella lundy may be a connection, but i have more work to do on this.  the previously mentioned samuel lundy from short stand street (who disappeared shortly after being widowed at 21) was married to a mary ann mcauley (no connection to other mcauleys - at least as far as i know!) and i would suspect some may be relations of hers as there are a few streets from the short strand area in there.

FYI:  i was looking through my documents and came up with an agnes mcauley b 02 Aug 1887, baptd 04 Aug 1887 in st pat's rc, dau of MARGARET SHIELS and patrick mcauley, witness mary a pendleton.  your margaret?  if so, you're welcome to the record i have purchased as i cannot make a connection to my mcauleys or sheils'.

my mcauleys came from ahoghill to the lower falls and moved around the area A LOT, but they never seemed to live in any other part of Belfast.

thanks again!

kingserswell:  lo'...i have a purchase of right of burial cert #9648 from millltown, purchaser patrick mcauley (b1860s), 18 November 1918.  are you able to tell me who is buried in this plot?  family is not much on headstones, so no worries if you come up empty.  have a death registration for patrick which is dated 1934, so not him, but maybe wife rose, one of their childer, or a sibling?  thx for looking and appreciate the help yourself and others like you (loneygrandchild, to name one) for all your efforts on others behalf.

alex m:  thanks very much for that info on daniel and rose mcauley.  are daniel and felix connected in any way that you know of?  there are quite a few daniel mcauley's from ahoghill.  will check out that census.  guess i was incorrect in my suspicion about guilfoyle-mcauley marriage if you're holding the document!!  glad to hear it.  pretty much destroys my theory on felix being my ggf patrick.  will now investigate daniel...

aghadowey:

thanks for the other info, but have already tried the church registries without result.  will just keep at it.

thx
