Armed Forces / yorkshire regiment

Can anyone tell me where the Yorkshire regiment served in ww1? Im looking for info on Pte John.W.Smith 26173 7th battalion Yorkshire Regiment and i cant find any trace of him apart from the Roll of Honour deaths in 1920.He is listed as casulty type- Commonwealth war dead.
Any help much appreciated.

Help needed please! Im trying to find a marriage for John William Smith born Marske by the sea 1896.He died 31/03/1920.His Wife was called Mary Jane and they lived at East End, Sedgefield,Ferryhill,Durham.Im trying to find her maiden name but the marriages listed on Ancestry are very inky.I found a possible in July quarter 1919 but cant make out the brides maiden name.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

                  Yes i downloaded the mic but when i edit it (its got four other Thomas Smiths on) it saves as a bmp file so im not sure if it will work.Ill give it a go.

Thank you to all who replied,i should explain why i posted my query.I watched "Who do you think you are" on Wednesday night and got excited to see Robert Lindsay with his granddads service records and medical notes.I've since read other posts and noted that this is not the norm and was probably done for the purpose of the programme!
Im grateful for your time in helping to explain more about the  army cyclist corps but really im none the wiser! Thomas Smith came from Guisborough North yorkshire,would this mean that he'd automatically be in a Yorkshire regiment?
Its my youngest sons birthday today so i dont think ill have much time to dig around.Will try tomorrow.

Thanks for replying.My g grandad survived the war and married in 1919.From the snippets of info ive had from my dad, Tom served in Salonika.Ive found his mic but theres not really much info on it.Ive got an id bracelet that belonged to him.Its aluminium with Dvr T Smith 6664 12th Corps Cyclist Batt, engraved on it.Ive searched for all of these words/variations but still havent found anything else.Any ideas? Thanks again.

Hi All,
           I think they were based in Bristol,1852-1972.I found a listing of Annual trade directories.If they were in business til 1972 wouldnt it be nice to find some info on your photo and who she could be?
