That was my great grandmother' s next child out of wedlock who disappears from the records after her baptism. Possibly adopted.

Thanks everyone. I have emailed PROV but had no response. Could still happen though. The names I'm chasing are William M'Gill and Agnes Strandgard. Agnes is my great grandmother and it appears that William is my great grandfather according to an article in October 1890 in Trove. The article refers to evidence in the police court and that's what I'm chasing. Agnes didn't marry William and this article is the only reference to my grandfather's father. Could be McGill but I have no proof.

Thank you. I actually found the first reference on Trove and now I'm chasing the police court records that were referred to in the article. Cheers.

Thank you for your reply. No luck with Trove and living interstate makes PROV a challenge. However, I appreciate that you took the time to respond. I've tried on several forums and no one has answered to date. Cheers.

Hi there, does anyone know how I can access the transcript of a police court hearing held in Clunes, Victoria in 1890? Many thanks.

Wow! Thank you so much. I have a full membership with Ancestry but it's not showing me that record at all. I've even tried the Pharo spelling but still nothing. I'm going to contact Ancestry and see what's going on. It seems likely that it is my guy given how unusual his name is. Thanks again.
