That's very interesting Donna

I have the facts you quote for Robert ... thank you.

But...

Benjamin Milward??? ... that's a completely new name to me ... and the 'Tenbury' connection is correct too ... hmmmmm

Thank you Donna

Donna ... YOU STAR!!!

I think you've 'nailed it' ... I've been hitting my head against the wall for months on that!!!

Thank you so much ... it's a safe bet now that Thomas's parents were ineed George and Maria (got to add another thanks to Mike here, who assisted me yesterday wth this issue). Thank both of you!!!

(Wonder why George and Maria couldn't keep Thomas? ... strange!)

Thanks agin Donna (and Mike)

Hi again Donna

I'll get my facts right this time ... promise.

I know for a fact that that Samuel is, in fact, the grandparent (as in your previous messages). The transcriber of the census read his age as 40, when in fact his age was 60.

Thus, in my book, it would make Thomas the grandson of Samuel & Elizabeth.

I suspect, but cannot prove, that Thomas's father may have been called George (b1816) or Samuel (this Samuel lived from 1812-1840). My first thought was that Thomas had been 'adopted' by his grandparents after his (possible) fathers death (ie Samuel 1812-1840) but I cannot tie this up.

However, I have also been informed that a possible father and mother are 'George & Maria', but haven't been able to tie this up either?

... It HAS to be either George or Samuel as the father in my opinion.

Thanks again

Kind regards

Hi again Donna

Apologies to you, I got my Thomas's mixed up ... the Thomas in the previous post IS the same person (one census even goes 'straight down the middle' and gives a birthdate of 1850). It's quite probable that Thomas was 'farmed out' ... his father died suddenly in 1855 and, no doubt, mother Emma had too much on her plate (so to speak). It's comforting to see, in later years, that Thomas, having never married, was 'Head of the house' until his mothers death.

The Thomas I was confused with, and cannot locate parents of, is Thomas Milward b1838 Pershore, Worcs.

Apologies once again Donna ... and thanks for all your (spot on) info, much appreciated.

Kind Regards

The grandparents fit exactly, Donna.

However, the parents come as a bit of a shock. Thomas (Snr) was indeed a son of Samuel and he did have a wife called Emma ... and they had a son called Thomas too ... BUT ... I have their son Thomas down as being born in 1848 (and then no further trace of him).

I've traced the Thomas born 1852 AND the names he gives his children are 'family names' which suggest that he IS true family and may well be THE son of Thomas and Emma ... but ...

Thomas and Emma had a few children and bought them all up themselves ... it seems strange that they should 'farm out' Thomas?

Families eh? ... who'd have them., ha ha

Thanks again Donna

Kind regards

Hi Donna

Absolutely spot on ... agree 100%

My next mission is to find the parents of the niece (Elizabeth, b1853, Pershore) - she has 'appeared', out of the blue, from nowhere???

If anyone can offer anything on her parents then I'd be extremely grateful ... thank you.

Thanks again Donna

Hi JJen

That is a terrific find ... and would 'fit' perfectly with info I was seeking (and hoping).

Sincere thanks, that's made my day.
