I'm hoping you kind folks can help me and my son with a project.
My son is learning about the Victorians and Queen Victoria at school and is getting really interested in history, so we have decided to do a project at home for him to take in and show his class.
Basically we decided to pick an individual from the Lincoln area and track him through the Victorian era, and then produce a timeline showing imprortant events for this period and then place him, and the events in his life, on to this timeline, and hopefully to find out a bit of 'social history', perhaps about occupations or where he lived.
I looked through the 1881 census last night, and we have come across Hezekiah Dady, who ticks all our boxes and has a wonderful name as well. There's no family connection to him - we're just adopting him for a while (if he belongs to anyone I hope you don't mind us temporarily borrowing him
).
From looking at the indexes he appears to be in Lincolnshire on all the census returns from 1851 (when I think he's Zeckeriah Dady), through to 1901. I've got the 1881 info but would be really grateful for the details of the other census returns.
What I know about him so far is:
Hezekiah Dady, baptised 25th Dec 1850, Welton, parents John and Sarah Dady.
1876 married Rhoda Annie Smith in Islington
1881 census - aged 31, living Waddington Road, Bracebridge, attendant at asylum (think this will be Bracebridge Heath Lunatic Asylum), wife Rhoda aged 31 born Ashley, Cambridge, children Ellen E. (3 yrs), Herbert (2 yrs), Walter (6m) all born Bracebridge.
Sorry for such a long post and thanks for any help.
Jo.
