London and Middlesex / London Underground Employment records 1930s to 1970s
« on: Sunday 30 December 18 18:46 GMT (UK)  »
If such exists, I am trying to find the employment record of a relative, Martin Peter Kennedy, born in Clonmel, Tipperary, Ireland on January 30th 1911. He was with London Underground, first as a porter, as early as 1938, later as a driver. Then he had an altercation of some sort, had a mild stroke and was put on ticketing duties. He later had another stroke and was, presumably retired on pension. He died in September 1979.
All guidance appreciated.
Thank you.

Dublin / Dublin to Holyhead, 1936
« on: Wednesday 26 December 18 10:49 GMT (UK)  »
Is there any way to trace the movement of passengers to Holyhead? I’m trying to find out when Martin Peter Kennedy left for England (born Clonmel, January 1911, lived in Ballinalack Westmeath, married Frances Wilson in Pancras Middlesex in 1938, died September 1979, Barney, London). His subsequent history is known to me. He worked for London Underground until debilitated by a stroke.
I think he may have fathered a child born (but not necessarily conceived) in Dublin in October 1936. The child was given a false name.
Thanks, Gerry.

Many thanks to you both. Great research. I’ll follow up later on by visiting the cemeteries. Fellow grave occupants reveal lots of information. Cremation will play havoc with genealogy!

Tipperary / Re: Carrick on Suir marriages 1825 - 1840

Many thanks it still does. The Suir divides the two dioceses. And Kilkenny (Ossory) is 5 miles out the road!

Many thanks for the interest. I have that. His father was a soldier in Clonmel Barracks at the time. However, I have no record of what happened to him between that and his death. If he is the same Martin Peter Kennedy who died in 1979, then at least I have something to go on. Again, thanks for your reply.

His father's name was John, his mother Lena (Helena) Mulvey

Thank you, Rosie. I'm not familiar with that register, but I'll have a search for it. The dates would be right.

London and Middlesex / Martin Peter Kennedy

I'm trying to find out if Martin Peter Kennedy, who died in Barnett, Greater London in Autumn 1979 (England and Wales, Civil Registration death Index, Vol 11, page 175)
is the same person as the Martin Peter Kennedy, born in Clonmel, Tipperary, Ireland on 30 Jan 1911.
The dates match, but I have no other information about him in between (family members etc..).
I don't know where he is buried - that could help....
I think he married and may have had three children.
Any information appreciated.

Thanks LC. Yes, the details on both baptism and birth registration are the same, but not surprising, since the informant in both cases was Rose Farrell, albeit 16 years apart. And I have checked all the sites and information sources for a marriage cert and I can't find any. That is what leads me to believe that all the details were fabricated to hide the identity of the child.
I am now trying to trace the family history of the family that took him in, to see if there is any connection at all there.
Thanks for your input.
