Thanks again for all your help. When I applied for a death certificate for Mary,I based it on the entry on Ancestry, her death showing as 1896 but the Registery Office couldn't find it.She was born about 1820,she had at least 1 brother,Andrew, who was born 1822,he married a Jane Beggs, they are both buried in Movilla cemetry. To divert from Mary, her son,Thomas, who left his family in Scotland and went to New Zealand married again, commiting bigamy,he added Beggs to his name, which was his aunt's maiden name.
William,as far as I know,is buried in Movilla,if his wife died before him I imagine they are together. If I could find the grave, the date of death would be on it.
If I contact Ards council would they have a record of the grave?

Thank you for all your help I still dont really know when Mary died.I think I said before that I had 1896 in Castlereagh but the registry office couldn't find her death then. Her husband was William Gunning who died in the workhouse in 1898.David that someone mentioned, was William's brother, also a shoemaker.I don't know where to look to be able to get a death certificate for Mary.

My great x2 gran was Mary Gunning nee Snodden.Having recieved her husband's death certificate,I applied to the Registry Office for Mary's but it seems they are unable to find it.
On Ancestry it gives her death as being in 1896 in Caslereagh aged 74 but on Geneaology Ireland it gives a Mary Gunning dying in 1879 in Newtownards at the age of 70.That age isn't really right but it could had been a mistake as the age of 60 would be fine.
Please can anyone help me find her death date so I can order her death certificate which will also tell me her parent's names. Thank you

Maybe they married in the USA? Maybe because she was committing bigamy and thought it less likely she would be found out?  People did all sorts of things for love as I know from my own family!

Many thanks for all your help. That Mary Lavelle was born in 1909 and her mother's maiden name was Joyce, looks like the right person

I found a marriage between Austin Ayre and Gladys Crompton 1920 looking at the details, family etc, there doesn't seem any doubt to me that this marriage took place
