I think its unlikely they would travel all that way to get married when both are born in London, and John James' parents died in London and all his brothers and sisters remained there.

Bishops Waltham is where I've traced the family to in in 1700s so that could be a very distant relation.

There are a whole load of Earwakers in Hackney but so far I haven't been able to prove a link between them and mine. Mine originally come from Hampshire, but this John James was born in London.

Yes John James def unm in 1861 census. Living with parents

No other Earwaker children born prior to 1871. If they had children elsewhere I don't know. No other younger children appear on 1871-1911 census records.

Can any clever person find the marriage of
John James Earwaker and Elizabeth ?
He is born 1838 St George the Martyr, Southwark
She is born 1844 either St George the Martyr or Bermondsey
Their first child is born 1871 in St Saviours, Southwark and they are head and wife on 1871 census in St George the Martyr.

Earwaker is pronounced Erriker and can appear on record Earwalker, Earwicker, etc etc

I have tried every spelling I can think of. There are no clues in later records as to what Elizabeth's maiden name could be. In one census she is called Betsy.

There is a marriage in 1875 of John Earwicker and Elizabeth Adams but I have followed this through and it is not them.

Many thanks

Thanks KGarrad. I know I ought to get the marriage cert. just being lazy and mean!
Thanks Kay99. That site looks hopeful although I think there are some discrepancies in the census records.

Thanks for your help

Huntingdonshire / Water Newton look up

Hi
I'm looking for a baptism record for Sophia Hunt who in all census records says she was born in Newton or Water Newton, Huntingdonshire, 1825
However, she married in Portsea, Hampshire,
had children in Gloucestershire
remarried in Yorkshire!
But consistently says she was born in Huntingdonshire.
I'm afraid I have no idea who her parents were.
I can't find her in the 1941 census.
Any help, gratefully received.
Thanks
