Made a note of these many thanks, I’m still in shock they may not be Welsh 🙄😁 my daughter has done dna so maybe a match will come up with a link, I’ve deleted the John surname off my tree, not sure if I’ll ever crack it but many thanks.

Thankyou, there’s no evidence it’s even a true tale tbh , but I’ve amended my tree as no proof Llanwonno. It was around 16 years ago I entered that and I can’t recall how I came to that conclusion!

AnnieBard, I might have to reassess this !  There was a family story that they came from Wales as the Welsh sheep drovers passed through the village enroute to London. But the family aren’t interested or knowledgable about their family history so it could be wrong.
So… it was some time ago I looked at this branch and I may have to scrap it and restart . Daughter Elizabeth was baptised on 3 jan 1802 in bishop’s Itchington so the couple were there then, the 1841 bishop’s Itchington census does give a ‘no’ for born in the parish.
Thank you so much. Osprey, thanks for your help also , may have taken a wrong turning once I got as far back as Alice.

Europe / Re: LATVIA: Immigrant to UK after WW11

I’m interested in this also, my Latvian/German grandad came over to England after WW2 after spending time at boarding school in Sweden first, but there are no records , all seems to be passage to America in the records.

Hi on every census she does give her name as Alice not Anne. John was born 1781 I believe or poss 1776, which another user has entered, but on the death entry in the register there is no age. He is the only person with a blank for the age. He died 1847 in Bishops Itchington.

Glamorganshire / Alice John born 1781 in Llanwonno, no trace

In my daughters tree from her fathers side , her ancestor is Alice John born 1781 who married a John Morgan in 1800 (also from Llanwonno) and quickly moved to a village called Bishops  Itchington in Warks, England. . Alice died in 1850, she had been widowed three years. I do have her tree to the present day and need no help with that, but although I have an ancestry sub, I can’t afford Find my Past too, and when I click on Llanwonno archives the site directs me to FindMyPast. It’s basically the parents of Alice and/or John I’d love to find. Thankyou for reading!

Travelling People / Re: Romany DNA - what would you expect to see?

I’m Romany and I tested on each Dna site, I have matches to Bulgarian gypsies who were adopted in America. So it’s obvious to me that many of us have Balkan heritage.

I’m glad that Jeanne made her fortune and lived in a luxury flat in the best part of London, it seems she had control of her life and made her choices.

Jaywit, no but I will! I love west end girls by Barbara Tate, not connected to this lady though.
